    Hello !
I have an ACER EXTENSA 5620Z-4A2G12Mi.
It has an Intel GL960 chipset, and an Intel T2390 CPU installed.
    Bios Version - 1.34
I would like to upgrade the CPU, install a T7700 on it.
Will it work ? In the service manual I found that ACER installed T7700 on EXTENSA 5620 series, but there might be a issue with the BIOS, it might not accept the CPU.
Did anyone of you guys test this or have experiences with upgrading this model's CPU ?

    Thank you for you time!
    Best Regards!

If you've confirmed in the service manual that T7700 has been installed by Acer it has to work on your 5620 too.
Just make sure that you have the most recent BIOS flashed before you upgrade.

Yes, the service manual says so, I found it here:
    [REMOVED]
Sorry If im not allowed to post links.

The thing is I didnt find anything about a T7700 CPU on GL960 chipset. Also I contacted acer support, but didnt get a straight answer...well.. the usuall thing - its not tested and they dont recommend it.
I was hopping to find someone who has this model or at least an acer extensa with a GL960 chipset and tried to upgrade the CPU.
In BIOS there might be this "white list" of the allowed devices ...

According to a service manual these notebooks use these two sets of chipsets:
Are you sure yours have GL960?

BTW- service manuals are copyrighted by Acer so you were right- these can't be shared here. I removed the link.

Again, sorry about the link, thanks for removing it.
Yes , i checked it with CPU-Z and SIW(free version), both are showing GL960 chipset.
Checked the GL960 specs, provided by Intel, it says that it only supports 533Mhz FSB, but I found on this forum that it actually supports 800Mhz FSB.
Here are the screenshots from CPU-Z

    Everest gives this info:
Somewhere on the internets I found that GL960 doesn't know how to "do stepping" for T7700? What would this mean?
Btw, the max amount of memory is actually 3Gb, tested it on my notebook.

One more thing, if checking Intel's page for Mobile Intel® GL960 Express Chipset, it says that the compatible CPUs are:
    Intel® Celeron® Processor 550 (1M Cache, 2.00 GHz, 533 MHz FSB)
    Intel® Celeron® Processor 560 (1M Cache, 2.13 GHz, 533 MHz FSB)
    Intel® Celeron® Processor 570 (1M Cache, 2.26 GHz, 533 MHz FSB)
    Mobile Intel® GL960 Express Chipset

Mine is a T2390 .. so this is kind of confusing...
I guess I will just have to get it and have a trial-error quest :D

How exactly did you update your BIOS. I have the Extensa 5620-4020 and T7800 that will upgrade with.
