I've bought an acer extensa 5635z with win 7 2 weeks ago. since then i realized that when i plug in my headphones [from my Nokia Phone.....with 3.5 jack] it sounds like someone had pushed the Karaoke button, it just plays the background sounds....leaving everything out
I reinstaled the original audio driver [conexant ] nothing, i tried to instal Realteck driver from an older Acer model...nothing.
The headphones sound is good when I use them on my nokya and the sound on the laptop speakers is good, it only has a problem when i plug the headphones in.
I will probably buy some normal headphones but i would like to know before if it's a hardware or software problem.
10'x to anyone who can tell me what's the problem.

Which headphones are you using? I think you're using 2.5 mm as opposed to 3.5mm

I use an 3.5 mm jack, from a Nokia 5800 and it works well on my phone.
If it's not software i will take it back to the shop....and i will se there...but i'm in italy right now and i really don't trust these guys with technology...they will send it to milano...or some were else...and i will have to wait 2, 3 weeks, the holiday's are coming...it will be a month...or more.....fook it,....i'll wate ;P

Nokia headphones have a double jack so to speak- there's probably a connection for both headphones and a mic that's on the headphone cable.
You should try normal headphones first- my guess is that there's nothing wrong with the notebook.

A cell phone headset can work in cell phone only!
Cause there are button switch, mic and speakers.
And PC-Laptop soundcard just supporting standart 3,5mm audio jack. You just can plug standart headset, speaker and amplifier in to it

My nokia has a 3.5 mm audio jack, built in, it's made for music.....my old HP laptop had no problem with the Nokia headset, the Acer sound card was the problem.
