    I have two new Extensas, the popular models sold by Best Buy EX4620-4605 and EX5620-6830. These units do not come with the bluetooth option installed. There are replacement bluetooth modules available on e-bay and other places for the Acer notebooks but no one seems to know what is the type required by these newer Extensas. Does anyone know what is required? The modules differ in the type of plug and the lenght of the connector leads. I don't want to take the units apart first to find out what they take. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Quick follow up on bluetooth for Acer EX5620;

    First, I misspelled the name of the thread....Ok, so I'm a perfectionist, but you try that when entering DOS commands!

    Second ,the module required is of the 4-pin variety. The connector is on top of the motherboard, in front of the keyboard. I don’t really know where the module would fit. My guess is that it goes somewhere to the right of the touchpad in front of the keyboard. It looks like it’s possible to just remove the bottom screws, pry open the front of the case, insert the module and plug it in. Anyone try this yet?

    For the 5620-6830 from the Service Manual:

    BLUETOOTH BOARD FOXCONN BCM2045 V01
    Acer Part Number 54.TB2V1.001

    I may have read somewhere (not sure where) that this part was replaced with part number 54.T86V1. 001, but I'm not 100% sure.

    BLUETOOTH CABLE
    Acer Part Number 50.TK901.005

    I haven't found it anywhere yet, but I haven't looked too hard. I tried emailing the 'OldEgg' seller on eBay I see listed in a bunch of these bluetooth threads, but I never got a response when I asked if any he carried worked with the 5620-6380 (he doesn't have any listed).

    There's no specific reference to the EX5620-6830 on the Oldegg site for the adapter for this model. I did receive a reply from them to confirm that they just don't have the information but, were very interested in anything I could find out.
    I guess finding the original part form Foxcomn would also work. Does the manual show the location where the factory module is installed? Also, where do I get a service manual for these units?

    Does anyone have a source for either the module or the actual connector if I decide to mod a USB Bluetooth dongle? I found one place online with the module and cable as a kit, but the price seemed unreasonable to me ($84.95USD, plus shipping and handling, nearly $100USD total).

    If I could find just the proper connector, I think I'd just do the USB Bluetooth dongle mod. I don't want to solder directly to the edge connector in the laptop.

    Anyone?
