Hi. I bought an Acer A515-41G-F2SH laptop and it runs well but whenever I open up a game I can see low framerate and low CPU, GPU usage (monitoring with MSI Afterburner).
Specs:
Windows 10 64 bit with latest updates
FX 9800P Quad Core CPU up to 3.60 Ghz
RX 540 GPU 2GB GDDR5
8GB DDR4 RAM
256 GB SSD
1920*1080 resolution
I'm seeing nowhere near 100% GPU utilization yet low framerate also without 100% CPU utilization on any core. I get 25-45 FPS in non-demanding 10 year old games, also about the same in League of Legends, depending how many things are on the screen (I get 40% GPU utilization and 70% CPU on each of the 4 cores). I did a lot of Googling and there were others in the same situation. I tried lots of fixes but no solution. My desktop i3-6100, GT 1030 2GB GDDR5, 8GB DDR4 RAM, Windows 10, 120GB SSD, 1 TB HDD has no problems in the same games: low CPU utilization but 99% GPU utilization and 3 times more frames. I hope I can find a fix as I can return it but can't afford an i5 mx150 option at the moment. Thanks in advance.

I looked online and it seems that the FX 9800P has a iGPU of sorts, it could be that the games are using that instead of the RX 540

I already set the games with the "high performance" setting in the switchable graphics tab of the Radeon settings. I tested the same Unigine Heaven benchmark DirectX 11 and got similar frames from desktop and laptop but currently getting about three times lower performance on RX 540 and DirectX 9 games. Weird that I'm getting 25 frames on iGPU in Assassin's Creed 1 and only 35 with the dedicated GPU. Could it be indeed badly optimized AMD drivers for DirectX9, in which case, any hope they'll ever fix them? Or is there an easy solution I'm missing?
Edit: Nope, my theory is wrong. With Unigine DirectX 9 I also get similar FPS. Gonna install some more games. Maybe I just have loads of badly optimized for AMD games. Looking forward to suggestions.Last edited: Sep 4, 2018 -
I have same pc but my cpu is amd a10 9620p and i got same issues i can't play any game because of framerate and i guess 65 watt is not enough for this cpu and gpu
CS GO : 40-60 fps lowest settings and 1024*768 resolution
Battlefield 1 : 15 fps on lowest settings and 1366*768 res
Pubg : 35-50 fps on lowest settings 1600*900 resolution (i think its good),
Withcer 3 : 40-60 fps medium settings 1366*768 resolution
Battlefield 4 :20-30 fps lowest settings 1366*768 resolution -
I also thought it was some power limit, temp limit, bad psu, hidden tweak or something but I tried everything and I think the most simple explanation is some games are badly optimized for AMD because I get a constant 60 FPS on PES 2014 with cpu and gpu usage similar to my desktop. On others I have low GPU usage and 2 or 3 times less frames. I'm a first time AMD user and didn't expected such a huge optimization difference. Anyone have a better explanation?

Dıd you tried windows 7 i think it can fix problem if you don't tried it i will install windows 7 on my pc
-
Windows 7 made no difference. I think in my case it's a bad optimization issue, in your case it's a mix of bad optimization and cpu bottleneck as some of the games are very new and demanding. Not an expert, just stating the conclusion of my tests.

I downloaded bf5 open beta but I got 5 fps only
when I checked gpu usage from amd link I can see %0 usage ,5watt 228mhz core clock 300 mhz memory clock

It could be running on iGPU as that is too low. I tested Gothic 4 and with 1080p and everything maxed out I get 100% GPU usage and 90% CPU usage so definitely no temp, power issue. I get 20-25 FPS as opposed to 30 FPS on the GT 1030 but there is an obvious reason: there is an "Nvidia The way it's meant to be played" logo in the game.
I'm gonna keep it as I needed a laptop and I only paid 450$ for it. At that price I can only get Intel iGPU and no SSD.

its my problem do you have any idea for fixing it ? -
Try a game not in BETA for one.
Also, same thing happens in full screen? -
when i try it other games like battlefield 4 cs go rocket league or battlefield 1 i got same results and yes same thing happens on fullscreen
but some games working very well like witcher 3 and pubg
I tried uninstall drivers with ddu and install again it doesn't change anything -
Right but I cant tell if the iGPU is being used or the dGPU.
Use a fullscreen game, establish your baseline then alt tab and snipping tool to crop a picture of an already open task manager.
Acer FX 9800P + RX540 Very Low FPS in all Games
