    Acer Factory IMG to external HDD possible?

    I had the dvds I burned,but can't seem to find them :mad: .I don't have any dvds,but plenty of HDDs.Is their anyway to do a acer factory img to external HDD instead of using 3 dvds?

    Copying it to an external HDD is easy- the problem is how do you start the recovery process. There are some boot settings that cause it to start and you can't use boot sectors from eRecovery DVD and probably can't just copy the ones form internal HDD either.

    I'm assuming that since you lost the recovery CDs you made, you want to make another set.

    One way to go about this would be to back up all your data, perform a system recovery on your laptop, and then create recovery CDs.

    A way to do this without removing your data would be to use a disk imaging program to copy your laptop hard drive to another 2.5 hard drive, install that 2.5 hard drive in your laptop, run system recovery, and then create recovery CDs. Then reinstall your original drive. You could keep the drive you copied to around as a backup or just erase it.

    If your laptop came with Windows 7, you can legally download the install DVD from microsoft.
