I've read Snorres guide to the Ferarri and he says that the videocard should be clocked to 485/250 but when I overclock my GPU the computer restarts when I'm getting to the high levels. After restarting it says that there has been some serious trouble and that the ATI MR 9700 was the one who caused the instability. What is wrong? I overclock with Powerstrip.

Have you noticed any artifacts or 'glitching' of the screen before the computer shuts down? 485 is a massive clock speed, are you sure thats correct? My desktop 9800pro is only 378 by default, sounds like you are pushing too far.

EDIT: Just tested, but my desktop restarts when I approach 470. And thats with a hefty Arctic cooler on the GPU. So it looks like you'll have to ease back a bit. Go up in small steps, until you notice glitches in the display.

Actually there's no glitches at all.

Where did you see this guide to the Ferrari? Have you been putting the clock speed up in increments or all at once?

I dont have much experiance with laptops, but on a desktop you will notice glitches at too high clock speeds, but at much too high, the computer will just crash.

My computer may not be idiot-proof, but it's certainly dimwit resistant.
