I have just got a Ferrari 1100 as a gift. As soon as i opened i saw that it seems very slow and unresponsive (it has Win Vista 32bit-never used them before). So the first question is should i use the installed OS or since i have a licence through my company, to clean install Win 7 Ultimate?? Which version would help 32 bit or 64 bit? The CPU is Turion 64 X2 TL-66, running at 2.3GHz with a 4GB RAM and a X1250 GPU, 250GB of WD previous BEVE drive.
If i do a clean install how can i keep my Ferrari stuff to the new installation (sounds, etc)???

Also is the Hitachi 200gb HTS 722020A9 drive better than WD 250 BEVE drive? as far as speed and consumption is concerned??

I would recommend using the Win7 disc you say you are allowed to use. You would be fine using the 64bit version.

As for how to keep the sounds etc. Simply go to the acer website - support - notebooks - ferrari and you should be able to find the sounds and what-not as well as anything else (software related) that ships with the machine. Simply install that onto your new OS. Provided that there is software there that supports your OS. Which is usually beyond all reasonable doubt.

I don't know about the difference in speed of the 2 drives. Hitachi is usually a pretty fast brand. Though I don't think there would be that much of a difference between the drives if they are both the same 'RPM'.

Vista with 4gb RAM should be a flier... I use it with 2gb and it superb.
Maybe the Acer "bloatware" slowing it down. Remember a 64 bit OS will use twice the RAM of a 32 bit... although with 4gb it's not a problem.
