any idea which sound card it has and will it support a 4 channel speaker system? I doubt it though...

I found your post when I was looking for the type of sound card I have in my Ferrari 3k. (btw, I love this notebook)
I have a problem with the sound level automatically being set very high whenever I reboot. Any ideas why?
    thanks

    Hi Rhue,

I'm pretty sure the Ferrari has the same sound card as the Travelmate 800, it is a Realtek sound card, and no, it doesn't support 4 channel audio. I fixed that by buying a Creative Labs Sound Blaster Extigy. It is a USB sound card and performs very well. Comes with a remote and everything too!

    Atheist,

Do you have a program under the 'start' menu called Realtek Sound Manager? If you do, open that up and turn the volume down. My computer had the same problem as you describe. I never used the Realtek Sound Manager, because I prefer Windows Media Player, but I guess the two fight for volume control during bootup?
