I have an old Acer Ferrari 4500WLMi that desperately needs a clean install. But I have a problem and that's that the DVD Drive is broken so I removed it. Anyway to get XP on this thing with a clean install any other way? :(

Also any idea where I can get a list of drivers that I would need, or would installing XP be enough? I'm going to get a better notebook in a month anyway but I want to keep this as a backup.

    drivers can be downloaded from

    support.acer-euro.com

i won't say it can't be done,,, but without a DVD drive in the notebook, it will be very hard and it won't be worth the $20 a CD Burner/DVD reader costs.

i suggest buying a drive off EBAY and doing it the easy way. any notebook DVD READER should work... of course there are always little issues like master/slave settings that could get in the way...

if you can look in the BIOS or device manager and see if the current drive is set to master or slave and then buy a replacement off of ebay with the same setting... then you should have no problems
