Right... im at the end of my teather!

I have a Ferrari 5000... system went belly up so I had to restore.

No problem... I have restore disks :)

    FAILED! Aaargh! Bad media?

Ok.. fortunatly I have XP Pro OEM on CD, which pared up with my serial key fine.

Oddly.. during the install... the laptop wouldnt auto reboot.

Same is now the case within windows.

    1. The power meter isnt there. The laptop will run just fine on batteries, but is "Only AC" according to the windows power meter and also the Acer one.

    2. On shutdown, the laptop gets right to the end and stalls, mouse pointer goes off but laptop doesnt... simular to when i was installing?

Im guessing there is some custom software I need to get this working correctly... any ideas???

    Thanks guys.. and hello!!

wow some else with a 5000 that is giving them grief. did you try to reload from partition? if not try(assomeing factory harddisk). if it is factory hard disk and it does not work call acer tell them you tried to reload the OS as it was giving you problems. tell them it failed and they need to look at it...

    my old 5000 went through
    4mobo
    3hdd
    1lcd inverter

acer finally replaced it after a long and heated argument...

    the new one works great.
