    Hi all.
I am looking at buying this netbook/notebook HERE and was wondering what you guys thought?
Would it be a match for a Celeron t1600 with GMA4500 graphics? (My wifes' laptop has this spec)
Bear in the following: I would be using it for college (if I'm accepted) and would need to run VMWare etc. Youtube and browsing etc. I also use handbrake for transcoding.
My budget is less than €500.
The killer about all this is that I had to sell my XPS m1530 with T9300 and 4gig RAM cos I had an offer I couldn't refuse.
One of the reasons I was looking at the above "laptop" was for portability, cos I would be going to college on the motorbike. I have a well specced P4 pc for the home.
Another reason is because it has the 1366*768 screen with dual core cpu and discreet graphics. Nothing compared to what I had before, but needs must
Don't know what else to say! If I've missed anything, sorry!
    All help appreciated. Cheers

I've been eyeing this notebook/netbook as well. It's a little pricey but if it is your only PC, it's a good one. Can game reasonably well if that's what you want, and has the power to do everything else you'd need.

I love my Acer 1410. It manages quite well, even many games.

    @Obskure

You should check reviews first. Especially battery life could be a problem.

@Obskure I bought one very recently - if you've any questions fire away. I'm not sure what the battery life is like yet as I've only switched it on once, but I believe its good for around 4 hours, maybe less with wifi on etc. The dual core Intel CULV processors will perform better than the AMD X2 which may be an issue for you if encoding lots of video.

Hi guys. Thanks for the replies.
@der_mali: I have read endless reviews. It's the user experience I'm after now.
@crazyotterhound: I'm a Mayo man myself. Where did you buy the laptop? I was looking at the Lenovo U350 but I think it's out of my range.
Does the cpu in the ferrari feel snappier than a celeron? I'm off to Hardly Normals' on Sunday, probably, to take a look at what they have!

Me - I'm an non-native Laois man ;-) I bought it from elara ( www.elara.ie), not the cheapest place to get it but I didn't want to buy from the UK with the postal strike on. Can't really say how it performs relative to a Celeron but it's perfectly adequate in Windows 7 and a millon times better than the slow Atom processor I had in the Vaio. You can check out some benchmarks for the AMD L310 on www.cpubenchmark.net. It's a good idea to try it out first if you can find one in H.Normans - good luck with it!

@crazyotterhound Thanks for the link re CPU's. I still like the ferrari one for it's technical qualities, not the "rosso" red.
Has anyone any other examples of screen a thin & light dual core with a 1366*768 screen that has dedicated graphics. Excellent build quality is a must.

Hi again. Well, still on the lookout for laptop. spotted a 4810tz on sunday. Have to say i like it alot. then, 2day I came across the 4810tzg. This is exactly what i want in a machine. it has ATI graphics card instead of Intel GMA. Will post link shortly. using opera mini now.
P.S. cheers for review link. that review has been well read already

Nothing on how much the Neo will bottleneck the 4670 XGPU though.

Without the XGP info I got to think the MSI U230 is the better Congo machine....especially if the bit of info about the U230 getting 4 hours off a 3-cell battery is anywhere close to legit.
