looks like the Acer Gemstone in Europe has already gotten a Centrino 2 update, with an upgraded video card to boot.

any guesses on how long it will take for this to get to Canada?

They've also refreshed the 16" models - behold the Aspire 6935(g).

The good news is: it's coming with a 9600M GT.
AND YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS - MXM UPGRADE!!!

Nice to see 9700M GT card on AS8930 .BTW why they don't try to put ATI HD3850M card in to AS8930? ATI have better video accelaration support than nVIDIA.

Smartmax, that's the first I've heard of an Aspire 6930 - namely b/c it's only been referred to that in a handful of previews.
For all intents and purposes, the 6935 is the 6930: Centrino 2, 9600M GT graphics, etc.

OK, I do stand corrected - they aren't the same, but they're damn close.
The differences in terms of specs are:
-The 6930 can come with Vista Home Basic
-The 6930 can't have the Wifi/WiMAX combo wireless adapter
-The 6930's card reader can't use MMCplus
-The 6930 can support two hard drives (?)
-The 6930 can have the GeForce 9300M GS instead of the 9600M GT or GMA X4500HD
-The 6930 has an Acer EasyPort IV connector (dock, probably)
-The 6930 doesn't have the CineDash. WHOA.

Looks like the 6935 tailed it, too.
Well, it seems to slowly be crawling its way westward. Should be in North America by end of year, I'd think.

hurry up and come to canada

only reason im holding out on buying a 6920 is because of the 6935

correct me if im wrong but the biggest difference (most noticable) between the two would be the updated graphics card?

Hopefully not by the end of the year. I was looking at buying an 8920, buy now that I see there is an 8930 out I feel ripped off. Does the end of the year sound about right for product launches from acer?

Seeing as I really like this laptop, and I cannot wait till the end of the year, does anyone know of an online retailer that I could buy the 30 from? I looked at a couple of UK based online retailers and they did not even list the 30 in their inventory.

Just went to john lewis today to look at their 8920g - it is advertised on the website as being 1920x1080 but when I checked the display model it was 1680x945 which was really strange, I didn't query them about it but I guess you could return it as it is not as described.
