I've read on a couple of places on the net that some people experience a "lock" problem with the CineDash (multimedia control on the left side). Basically the problem is that all lights are on but it doesn't respond at all. The only work around found for the moment seems to be that you have to completely turn off the computer and remove the battery (some say for at least 10 seconds) and then put everything back on and it should work just fine.
I wanted to let people know in case it happens to somebody.
Also, people who are new to Acer should probably check theacerguy.com website. It is more marketing than anything, but the community has some good info to share like this little troubleshooting from time to time. Good for newbies like me anyways.![]()

I believe it is some software issue, and the "battery method" is just a reboot.

Hey, what models does this happen to? Im looking into getting the As6920 and im kinda worried about that. Does it happen to all the models or just ones with blu-ray, or is it just the ones with the intel graphics card? Also, what usually cayses this problem?
-
Watch this (my) video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OhqKJzBA078 - I wrote reviews on Aspire 8920G and 6920G and both respond like you can see on this video.
I think, that 8920G is good laptop* but the volume control is very bad and inaccurate (especially in lower volume).
*) 1366x768 version of 6920G has ugly display - http://translate.google.com/transla...-samsungu-ne-dekuji&hl=cs&ie=UTF8&sl=cs&tl=en (attached photo) -
alright, i cant check those links yet, stupid filters at my job. But are you having the problem with the Cinedash thing locking up and not working until you remove the battery?
-
No. I know about 10 users with 6920G/8920G and noone has this problem.
-
alrighty then. One more questions...do they have the same model? I mean, do they have the blu-ray and/or the dedicated graphics card? I do want to make sure that I dont get a model that has problems like this. Thanks for your responses.

I can't be helpful. We have different configurations in Czech Republic.

thanks for your help.

Hey i recently got a 6920, but like a fool i didnt make my backup disks because i was so busy uninstalling all the crap :/
Anyway, now my cinedash isnt working properly. Specifically, the volume control doesnt work properly. Sliding up and down doesnt change the volume, i have to rub it right at the top to increase the volume, and rub it at the bottom to decrease it. Sliding around the middle 80% of the slider does nothing.
Originally, the volume control worked fine, i suspect i might have broken it by uninstalling one of the acer softwares, but i cant for the life of me remember which one it was.
I tried the battery fix, but it was technically 'working' anyway, so it hasnt changed anything. I guess i need to reinstall the software i removed. I think the software i need is the program which puts a bar at the top of the screen, which has 5 or 6 programms including the battery manager and volume controls?
ANYWAY i would greatly appreciate some help becuase obviously i would like my laptop to function properly
Thanks guys. -
Reinstall Acer eRecovery and make your restore discs first and foremost.
I don't think ePower or eAudio would affect this - they're just largely front-ends for Vista's power plan and the Realtek audio driver, respectively.
If you uninstalled Launch Manager, that might be the problem. -
i did as you suggested, and it seems that launch manager was the right program. now when i use the pad, the volume bars appear on screen
However, the volume slider still seems to be very tempremental, it doesnt go up and down very smoothly at all, and i have to go a bit crazy at either end of the slider to get anything done.
i noticed on a youtube video, that other people have had problems.
are there any more fixes for this? or is it worth ignoring becuase its more of a novelty anyway. -
I have tried removing the battery but still I can't use CineDash. My volume is stuck on max and my mute light is on. Have you got any other suggestions to get it working?. I have only had it 1 week, should I just return it and get a new 1?
-
I have the 8930, no problems here. CineDash is fine, though i prefer the volume gadget for sidebar
-
-
Do you have the launch manager program open? It's the program that controls it.
-
I have the 8930, and my cinedash did the lock up. The volume was stuck at max, and the ligth on the mute button was on.
Well removing the battery for some seconds did the trick for me,
and the cinedash is fully working again.
So thanks for the advice -
Wow I really didn't want to register, but anyways. For the people who's Mute light is on, and the Volume is up on max, tap the mute off, and your volume bar will come back but the volume is muted. Then go to your Volume Mixer in the bottom right corner, and unmute it. its really simple.
Also I have a question about the accuracy of the CineDash controls, apart from the controls become confused, the volume takes for ever to get from 0% to 100% I was wondering if there is a way to sync the CineDash Volume controls to my Volume Mixer. (It worked on Windows 7) But not very well on Vista. -
Hi,
I have a problem, I used a program to change what programs start up on my laptop, but now cinedash isn't enabled,
Does anyone know what program I have to let start up again? Thanks!
