Hi. I have lately been facing some troubles with my Internet application which seem to be rather odd. Even though my connection seems to be working well (skype works, Thunderbird is fine, provider says everything seems OK), I can only access two websites (the websites of my college, and that of another college) whilst others do not load. I ran AVG virus check but no threat was found. I de-installed and re-installed browser software - to no avail. So now I wonder whether the hardware might be responsible, i.e. my in-built wireless modem for TravelMate 291.

As I am desperate, I thought this might be a good forum to find friendly help. Any suggestions are more than welcome! Thanks in advance.

This sort of thing is often a dns problem - where the name of the website gets translated to its real address.

I'd look in Control Panel->Network Connections->Wireless Network Connection->General->Properties->Internet Protocol(TCP/IP)->Properties. Normally obtain both addresses automatically works fine, but you might have to enter a DNS server address. That address should be provided by your isp or network provider, or maybe the address of your router might work.

What error message do you get? Sounds more like a proxy issue to me.
