Sorry, your request is not supported. It use Insyde BIOS. The ability to change the video memory is depend on the video specification. I already look into this matter (for Phoenix BIOS) before. I'm afraid what you see in BIOS (for video memory), it is the only option you will get.

You need to know what chipset & IO controller does Aspire 5562 have. Look in the Intel website for the CPU compatibility with the chipset & IO controller.

Can I assume the Advanced menu is visible in real BIOS Setup Menu?
May I know the computer model? I know you have NVIDIA chipset because I saw MCP79 Core Voltage: string in BIOS.

I have found extra advanced menu. Just need to find it's parent menu so that I can unlock it all. I will post the modified BIOS image when it ready. For the mean time, please make sure your notebook can recover corrupted BIOS with CRISIS disk. BTW, your notebook have nice design. What is the price for this monster?

OK. I will post the modified BIOS when it ready. For the mean time, please make sure your computer can recover corrupted BIOS with CRISIS disk.

EDIT: Aspire 5517 is using Insyde BIOS. Sorry, Insyde BIOS mod request is not supported. However TravelMate 8210 is using Phoenix BIOS. I will proceed with it only.

That sounds great Kizwan I am using the TM8210 daily and wanted to be able to load some 64 bit server2008 with hyper-v. I am planning to purchase an Acer Aspire 5680 with T7200 have you already modded that bios for VT?

thanks again for the quick reply!

According to notebookcheck website, your TM8210 have Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T7400, right? If yes, there should be no problem. T7200 also have Virtualization technology. If you want to buy another notebook, I suggest you to buy Acer Aspire 5740G instead. I believe it is not too expensive. The CPU & graphic card is much better.

EDIT: Modified BIOS for Aspire 5680 already available here.

Kizwan this is my CPU in TM8210:

    Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor T7200
    (4M Cache, 2.00 GHz, 667 MHz FSB)

    I can get a 5680 for $250 with T7200 also.

    thanks!

    Hey kizwan,
I have an M11x bios I would like you to have a look at. I can't seem to open in Phoenix Bios Editor as it gives an about having "no BCPs". I tried a hex and it gives out alot of gibberish.
You can get the BIOS from here (my upload of the .ROM taken from a temporary location.)
I'm hoping you can mod it for the overclock mode to go to 333mhz instead of 266mhz and also check the multi under overclock if that's possible.
    Thanks.

Look like it have low specification than Aspire 5680. What is the purpose for this new computer? Are you going to run some simulation (since you did mention about Windows 2008 Hyper-V)?

I want to install server 2008 w/hyper-v and run 2 VM's inside for MS training.

The ACer Aspire 5680 with 4gb of ram I am hoping will be ok for that purpose to run 1 or 2 64 bit vm for testing. It also has Geforce 7600-SE so would be ok for old games not new games. Also I think it is not 16:9 screen. The TM8210 is my everyday laptop and has the latest bios 3522 installed but still no access to Intel VT in BIOS menu and has T7200 CPU.

How do I test my tm8210 for crisis disk recovery? I already have USB bootable working, that is how I flashed to 3522 bios last week.

    thanks!

I'll look into this. For the mean time, please make sure your notebook can recover corrupted BIOS with CRISIS disk. For Dell, assuming Dell Studio & Dell Alienware BIOS recovery procedure is the same, it should be like this:-
    1) Create CRISIS disk with USB flash drive
    2) Rename BIOS rom file to BIOS.WPH file & copy to the CRISIS disk
    3) Disconnect the battery & power cord
    4) Plug-in CRISIS disk
    5) Press the End button & in the same time plug-in power cord. Notebook should automatically powered itself. Do not release the End button yet.
    6) When you see USB flash drive LED indicator is blinking, release the End button. (For Dell Studio, the battery charging indicator will blinking)
    7) When the process finished, it will reboot automatically.

AFAIK, the Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 (assuming) in Alienware M11x already overclocked from 1.3GHz to 1.6GHz (266MHz x 6). Do you want it to be 333MHz x 5 multiplier instead?

    Hello Kizwan,

i did read your suggestions about how to correct corputed bios, i have an acer extensa 5220, can i follow your notes about the acer aspire?

I do not have an external usb floppy drive, nor an internal. I do have a usb external hdd (with external power) and a usb flash/memory drive, a usb stick, can i use this somehow to follow the procedure?

    Thanks

Yes, you can. The procedure almost identical for most Acer notebook.
On some notebook, during recovery process, it look for floppy disk, while on some notebook, it look for USB flash drive. You can't choose which one you want to use. If recovery process failed with USB flash drive, you will need to use floppy disk. If this is the case, you will need to get USB floppy drive.

I tried to use the FN-esc key while putting in the power and powering up but the USB flash drive just stays on steady. This was with an Acer TM8210. Does this mean I require a USB floppy drive?

    hello kizwan,

Thank you for the instruction, but i do not completly understand. Do i have to create a discovery disk /drive, by activating/executing a file (????.exe?), part of the recovery files to be downloaded; or do i just have to put the downloaded recovery files on a disk/drive, and exchange the bios file by my own laptop bios file and put it on a disk/drive?

Do i have to change boot settings prior to the procedure, in the bios?

    greetings

I'll work on recovery disks later today.
I would like to see 333x6 for 2ghz if it was possible. If it doesn't work, then I could use 333x5.5 instead. The CPU isn't getting any faster as it is so I don't see the problem with blind testing.
    Thanks

Kizwan - there is a valuable thread within the m11x forum under alienware...
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-m11x/463095-m11x-clock-generator-ics9lprs387bklf.html

There is a lot of talks about the motherboard, the pll number, etc... One thing that may be a challenge is that currently our bios allows for OC in the bios. 6.5 x 266 = 1.73ghz. However it also lowers the voltage, from our stock settings to maintain cool temps when OC is enabled... (I know you would think they would have given us more voltage right??)
I think it's possible to raise our FSB with the understanding that we need to at least have our original voltage, rather than the lowered to begin the OC process. I hope you are able to help us get 200 x 300 extra mhz.

DavyGT - Thanks for the heads up. Let me what I can do to help.

    Best Wishes, StevenX

kizwan, thank you for the bios and it did work but has predicted changing the new values made the laptop to not post. Had to remove motherboard and desolder the cmos battery.

please remove the link so no one else "bricks" the laptop.

thank you for your time on this !!

Will the Bios you posted for 5630 be compatible with my 5630Z Extensa? I plan to run OSX.
