I burned the cd and at the boot it tell me that vt is enable but processor does non support long mode. The OS i'm tryng to install is Snow Leopard. I setup a virtual machine on vmware but i can't power it on because the error i wrote in the last post if vt-x is enabled what kind of issue i must correct. It's true the machine is a bit old but i think that it have the minimum requirementsto run vmware.

I'll try to be careful haha.

    edit:

Could you outline what kinds of options were hidden within advanced chipset control before I attempt to try this BIOS mod? Thanks!

Kizwan, today I flashed Aspire 5738zg with your bios Aspire 5738G BIOSv1.28 MOD R2.rar
It works great and there are speedstep option. I try to enable and disable it. When it enable, bit 16 of msr register 1a0 (it's speedstep bit) is not able to be write from Windows. But when I disable speedstep, this bit is free for change, and it possible to change multipliers when on (1), and inpossible when off (0).
So I can enable/disable EIST from windows when it's value in bios turned to disable.
On my extensa 5620 this bit is read-only. Is this possible to unlock it?
    P. S. Maybe tomorrow I will try bsel mod (200-266) on 5738, if its owner will allow me to do this. ;)

I'm still investigating this. My old Aspire 9420 notebook also have EIST enabled but locked. I'm currently testing it on my notebook. I'm not very good with assembly language but I'm learning.

Kizwan, I tryed a bsel mod on aspire 5738zg. It was get 266 fsb, but eist was disabled. And options in bios were no effect. This important bit 1a0 is no write when I make a bsel mod. I tryed to change it in bios, but this bit is still read-only.

The EIST option in BIOS only toggle MSR 0x1A0 bit 16 (1 or 0) which is for enabled or disabled the EIST. The reason why you can't control it in windows is because MSR 0x1A0 bit 20 is set to 1 (locked). The bit 20 must be set before an EIST transition is requested. You can test this with ThrottleStop. If EIST option is grayed, it means EIST is locked.

Did you mean with v1.28 BIOS, you get 800MHz FSB (Bus Speed 200MHz)? Someone claimed that he only get 667MHz FSB with BIOS v1.28.

I already use Throrrlestop. And yes, EIST was grayed when enable and disable by bsel mod. But it able to change when EIST disabled in BIOS without bsel mod, this option is painted over.
About bus speed, in Everest 800 and 1066 fsb is supported. And it have DDR3, not DDR2. I see it by my own eyes, and sockets is different than DDR2. :) And cpu-z shows this bus speed and memory speed (1066 memory and fsb when by bsel mod, 800 by default).

That is Intel's anti-overclocking feature. If the chipsets sames a different BSEL than the one set by the CPU, the chipset will lock you to x6 multiplier and lowest voltage. Makes BSEL overclocking not worth doing.

Instead, consider the FSLx PLL pinmod. Would need to get pinouts of your PLL either by visual ID-ing and obtaining a datasheet or via a systemboard schematic.

    @Rockstar59,

I'm able to unlocked EIST on my Acer Aspire 9420. I can do the same thing for your Extensa 5620G but keep in mind there are 50-50 chances it will bricked your notebook. I'm myself have bricked my Acer a couple of time in the process to unlock EIST. Even though I already know which opcode & bit to alter & which BIOS module is involved, there is still slightly chances it can go wrong. So, it is important that your notebook support BIOS recovery using CRISIS disk. All the information you needed for BIOS recovery is available at the first post.

I can't guarantee BSEL mod will works even with EIST unlocked.

Yes, I know that. I don't want to do PLL pinmod, because I already do TME unlock and I can swith it to required frequency.

    ----------------------
Kizwan, please unlock EIST for my extensa 5620. Of course, at my own risk.

Kizwan, thanks a lot! I will test it.

I flash this and now I can switch on/off EIST! :)
Awesome! Now I will try BSEL mod.

After bsel mod it's lock again.

It looks like Intel's anti-overclocking feature which nando4 mentioned before. It is a long shot but try using an application called CrystalCPUID to enable EIST (set bit 16 to 1). I doubt it can be set though.

OR maybe it is time to upgrade the processor to IDA capable processor. :)

    Hi guz,

Except Speedstep (EIST), all other request can be done by using a software called ThrottleStop. Please try ThrottleStop first.

Sorry to bother you again, but I am very uncomfortable with this problem.

After upgrading my 5740G with i5 (originally it have a i3), I get this message starting bios:

“No microcode upgrade for alternate processor
    Press F1 to continue”

Have you check your CPU at Intel website? What is the CPU model? I believe your CPU doesn't support Virtualization.

My Modded run not perfect and bios make mistakes with the OC try, thus Windows completely Booting up (up to the welcome does not come it). I had to do him new Install the Windows and have ordered the older bios (G15-D15) from the Support. It should come in a few days on my email account.

I thank you, for your attempt and I hope that you are able to do G15-D15 also modden. The bios runs more solidly, hence, it would be a class if you could also look there sometimes whether it moddbar is.

G15-D15 Temp Max power: CPU 55-65C° and GPU 65-77C° (Crysis/GTA4)
G15-D20 Temp Max Power: CPU 55-65C° and GPU 75-80C° (Crysis/GTA4)

    Idle/2D G15-D15: CPU 35C° and GPU 45C° (Video HD: 1280 x 720p)
    Idle/2D G15-D20: CPU 35C° and GPU 65C° (Video HD: 1280 x 720p)

So, basically the modified BIOS is OK? EIST is unlocked, right? You do not want to use it since the GPU's temperature is high, right?

OK, I understand now. The GPU temperature is a bit high with modified BIOS G15-D20 (since it is based on original BIOS G15-D20). I can modified BIOS G15-D15 (unlock EIST) for you if you want. Just let me know.

    Hi cowithgun,
I'm glad it works for you. Enjoy! :)

Yes Eist is open, but not as well as in the pictures, the half is not there. In itself it runs, yes, but 65C ° Idle is too high to me for a GPU, the cooler begins only in 3D mode and also only if it 80C ° and then he falls on about 77C °.

For me you are a hero, because I am lost without you. Also like you it make would interest me, but I would not understand it.

First-class work, thank you and a glad party to you and the rest here.

PS: Packard Barking has said me on the phone which 2011 new Ipower GX will come (Sandy Bridge, DX11 GTX 400m and co), but when exactly, this is not certain yet. Whether it is right the time points, but there the Ipower series is anyhow quite 2 years old it would also be in the time.
