    Hi kizwan!

Followed your tutorials through the whole forum - but im not able to change bios how i want - grrr

Please may u have a look on my Travelmate 6291 Bios

It would be very great if u can enable as much as u can - i allready changed DSDT - not final - and edited some model and system product ids... so nothing special...

btw. i use the PBEP 2.2.1.3 but i cant change the splash screen - always took me back to original - the damned .bin files overrule the changed pics...

no clue what to do - if u would change the splash images within the zip (just delete .txt :D ) file it would be very pleasant

edit: aaah and do u know are there whitelists for WIFI cards in this Bios - googled around without any solution - my WIFI card isnt detected within different OS's but detected in Linux... hmm

    thanks in advance

    cheers

    CRC

Tried SetFSB, Can't find a good PLL.

Has anyone tried opening his dell studio 1558?

I may have another motherboard, I can't even read the model from the BIOS.

My previous was 0876p4. Now this motherboard was replaced, and I have a new one of which almost everything is hidden. But your custom BIOS works.

I may sound like stupid here. But is it worth opening my laptop?

I think I will just wait my warranty out otherwise. If I wait long enough, I can get a replacement.

What is the different between these two; 6291_Bios.zip.txt & original.zip.txt?

It's going to take some time because I have other priority right now.

OK, I'll mod the original BIOS. I'll try to reintegrate the new splash for you but no promise because it sometime tricky.

    It is AMI BIOS.

Please search a program called " AMIBCP". It is AMI tool. I don't know whether you can unlock AMI BIOS with it or not.

AMI bios can have options unlocked, I have a bios for my GT627, it had ram timings, CPU voltage, CPU ratio added. The ram settings worked, CPU settings did not show up. If you're interested I can upload a stock copy and a modded one for you to compare.

Hi m8 you can always try MVKtech.net and submit your vBIOS and ask them to modd it for you Mavke is the one there you want to talk to he modded/unlocked my vBIOS for OC :) or you can always try NiBitor the latest ver and that you can also find at the same site

    hi
    kizwan!
I know that you already patched R580 bios file, but could you do the same with R780 bios?
    here
If you did so... were you able to extract rom file with this find_gz without errors?
    Thanks in advance ;)

Yeah, find_gz extracted the ROM file with error. However, R780's BIOS is Insyde BIOS. Sorry, Insyde BIOS is not supported here.

    Hi;
I'm new to here and modding, so sorry if I sound like a noob.
I have an Acer Aspire 5542G (with ATI Mobility Radeon HD4570), I recently upgraded rams to 4GB. They were 800 MHz, but seeing in CPU-z, I was shocked. My computer locked the Ram hertz at minimum possible. It's like %50 downing it.

I tried the custom bios here, on 93. page, but since I'm using 64-bit version of Windows, I couldn't install it. Here the 64-bit version of bios 1.09 (Updates ATI M92 VBIOS (50TR8M92.002))

One more question. Will I be able to change the clock for RAMs to make it 800 MHz? My graphic card uses from main memory, and it's clocked at 800 MHz, while RAMs are clocked at much less than it.

    Thanks in advance.

CPUz reports the real frequency. So if the ram is running at 800mhz, CPUz will tell you it's running at 400mhz (because the data is double pumped).

This is one of the 2GB 800Mhz rams. There are two of them, and they are identical.

    Yes that looks normal.

Well except for JEDEC #2, but you don't have to worry about that one unless you're running at 266mhz.

Did you try looking into the bios? Mostly there is a setting like:
    WLAN: Enabled/Disabled
    WWAN: Enabled/Disabled
    BT: Enabled/Disabled
You probably disabled it in the bios.

Here below in my attachment a tutorial I found on how to unlock hidden menus :)

Excuse me, the guide is made by Kizwan :)

I am sure the unlocked BIOS will help you. You could also try resetting your BIOS settings, maybe that will reset the hidden options too. Who knows.

But take a note of important BIOS settings like that your HDD is not on AHCI mode if it was on SATA before. Because Windows may not start if one setting is wrong.

One of my notebooks has a faulty touch panel, can't enable wifi, have to use a usb wifi stick. If you figure this out, please post how you did it.

On my old notebook, what I did is covered pin 20 & 21 with tape. It will make wifi always power ON. This is an old trick I found on the other forum. Linux forum I guess.

Yes.. it works with mPCIe wifi. Put cellophane tape over pin20 and the radio will be permanently on.

Yes, it is miniPCIe card. Covering pin 20 with cellophane tape will make wifi ON permanently.

(I know the second sentence is a repeat what nando already said above, I just don't like to reply with just only 4-5 words. :D)

    @kizwan

I want to modify EC firmware of Acer 3820TG BIOS in order to change Fan Speed table.

Firmware is in separate .bin file under KBC folder and is flashed separately from main BIOS.

Do you have any info about any sort of CRC values stored in this firmware which also need to be changed?
Or maybe how to recover it if flashing fails?

    Thanks!

Sorry. I have never mod EC firmware & I don't know how to recover bricked EC, if EC can be bricked. I have never heard somebody bricked their EC before. May I know how did you modify the EC firmware?

Here it was found what exact FAN Speed values are used by EC (0xFF 0xD0 0xB6 0x9E 0x81 ...).

I have searched EC firmware and found table (actually several tables) with this values: http://forum.notebookreview.com/ace...ex-3820tg-mods-tweaks-only-7.html#post7307652

So I want to modify 2nd (or even 3rd) value in this table to FF (FAN off) in order to start fan at higher temps.

    Laptop : ACER 7741z-4433

Trying to do a couple of things.

    1. Install a Intel 310 (soda creek) ssd in the mini2 slot the machine has but it wont pick it up for some reason.

    2. Install Mac OSX 10.6.7

I have bios 1.20 which is latest and vga bios 01.15 i dont know if its the latest as it came on laptop.

Any chance for a modified bios? Thank you all in advance for your replys.

Thanks kizwan +rep for you ;)

I try to do Crisis flash but it refuses to flash. I have no idea why. I have followed the instructions on first page thoroughly and I left it 5 good minutes but it just left blank. Then I unplug everything and rebooted, it boots normally. Any idea why?
