    1. If the notebook in question came with discrete GPU (Nvidia/ATI) & you want to activate Intel HD
      • The answer is NO. BIOS mod won't allow you to use the electrically disconnected Intel HD.
    2. If the notebook in question came with Nvidia Optimus & you want to set the Nvidia GPU as primary GPU
      • The answer is NO. In Nvidia Optimus notebook, Nvidia GPU rely on the Intel HD to relay the frame to screen. Nvidia GPU don't have direct connection to the output/screen. Turning OFF Intel HD will only cause blank display. Only limited number of Nvidia Optimus notebook have the option to disabled the Optimus, for example Lenovo ThinkPad T510.

Hi, can you mod that bios http://forum.notebookreview.com/6302404-post88.html , for my TravelMate 5730G?
Please add the microcode for Q9000 CPU (now if I install that CPU the system remain blocked on the splash screen), and add Raid mode ( I use a 2nd HDD ODD caddy)
    Sorry for my poor english.

Hello can you please mod the Acer Travelmate 5520 for me? This is the FTP link. I just want the advance settings like video since mine has no advance settings. Pfft Acer pfft laptops. Anyway. I can't run 64 bit Windows. Get a BSOD when I go into sleep mode.

Tried Vista, 7, Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Mint, Fedora, etc etc.

Ps. Would love to have a ATI tab in the BIOS like I saw on a screenshot on this forum :D

MZWiZard & I have tried to work on this. You can read our discussion at post #2336 (and read the rest of conversation). Adding microcode won't be able to fix this problem. Also RAID is not possible on this notebook. It's not design for it. Not to forget the missing RAID ROM.
From quick look, there is no advanced video options you're looking for in the BIOS. In fact, I can't find anything useful in the BIOS.

Well hello again :) I was wondering what could be the root cause of this. Is it because cpu id 1067Ah also is valid for several other processors, including p8400 which is only a dual-core at the same 2.26GHz (found here: Laptop CPU Core 2 Duo P8400, 2.26GHz, 3Mb Socket P | Trade Me

Is it a module missing? In that case, could it be extracted from an Acer 5930G bios? Im just guessing here. If youre not completely fed up with my and my crappy acer, then maybe sometime we should do a skype webcam conversation, kizwan - then i could show you everything you need to see etc.?

When processor stop working at certain multiplier, it most likely caused by insufficient power to drive the CPU. To rule this out, find schematics for this notebook & look for the voltage regulator. When I know in detail how processor identification work, I'll check it further.

Forgot to add, that due to my unsuccesful flash earlier on, i have a spare m/b lying around doing nothing. In the meantime ive also got an usb floppy drive which revived another acer, so maybe i should try it on the now spare m/b and then i could try to do some crazy flashes if that works, if youre willing to experiment a bit ;)

Can you guys help me with Gateway LT22xxx

    BIOS

I have search all the possible site on google and until today find no luck on OC the CPU(AMD K125). setFSB, ClockGen, AMD Tools, etc. All didn't work. It won't allowed me to do it.

If possible, all i need is to unlock for the processor for me to OC it. Other features like enable edit memory frequency would be much appreciated.

I need help for this one.

Do you guys also know any BIOS editor software and guides? I want to learn how to do it. I already know how to bios flashing and other stuff except with the modding it with codes.

    @Kizwan
What software is that "Setup Emulation"? is it for capture only or testing the bios? I like to try it out :)

Sorry, I unable to mod BIOS for overclocking.

I'm not familiar with AMD processor but Intel processor bus speed is set/control by clock generator. So, to overclock Intel processor, one need to access the clock generator using third party tools like SetFSB. How much bus speed you can increase depend on the clock generator capability. If AMD processor bus speed also set/control by clock generator, you'll need to find out what clock generator your Gateway use. Then find the datasheet & send it to SetFSB author.

Thanks for helping even if it didn't work :)

I guess i ran out of every luck I have tried. Gateway LT2203i has the same processor and GPU with Acer 522 and Acer 721 but the difference the PLL is not the same(even under acer company).

It is the first time I encounter a model that was not in all overclock software list.
I think I will just let this one go. Already wasted so much time for it.

    Hello Guys,

I've just upgraded the BIOS of the ACER Aspire 6935 to 1.20.
This one still doesn't have the needed hardware virtualisation in order for me to run VMWARE with Mac OSX.

I've seen that KIZWAN has posted any mods to make this option available in the BIOS.
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/6374876-post214.html

I'm not confident with this kind of edit of files, and would like to ask if somebody can download this 1.20 BIOS from the ACER support site in order to modify it and anable the CPU virtualisation.

Ok I found the service manual here: [REMOVED]

I also have the spare motherboard if you need specific pictures. It does have two FDMS 8692 near the cpu socket, which is mosfet power regulators according to FDMS8692 datasheet(1/6 Pages) FAIRCHILD | N-Channel PowerTrench MOSFET

Am I on the right track here?

Hy, can u MOD the BIOS from an Acer 5742G beacuse i want to disable the integrated video board permanently, the latest BIOS Update from Acer said something like this "Adds VBIOS and optimus function for nVidia N12P-GV3 and remove VBIOS of Capilano VGA." Could you please explain that to me?

This notebook use Insyde BIOS. Sorry, Insyde BIOS is not supported here.

If your notebook come with Nvidia Optimus, you can not disabled the Intel HD Graphics. The Nvidia card required Intel HD Graphics to relay the frame to display.

Can you modify Acer 4530 Phoenix BIOS v 1.3334 to increase the shared video memory from 256mb to 512mb? It's using Nvidia 9100m g

I didnt found anything useful using the VT finding method.
I've seen another laptop brand with the same Graphic card with 512mb shared video memory

    Hi Kizwan,
FOA thanks for all the hard work that you put to help people with their needs.
    Most Appreciated :)

I do not have VT-x enabled on my laptop. I am using Aspire 5738, Intel core 2 duo,2.10 Ghz, I tried to flash the BIOS with the MOD BIOS you suggested at the first page of this thread, but as I try to install it, It ends with an error, AC and DC doesnt exist! also its is managed by Memory Manager (ex. EEE 386).
Can you please suggest me if I am using a wrong BIOS or if VT-x is supported by my processor at all?

    Please help! Thanks in Advance!

Latest modified BIOS (EIST_MOD_R3) for Aspire 5738 is available at post #592. When you're going to flash the BIOS, make sure battery & AC adapter is plugged in. Also make sure battery is fully charged. To know how to flash BIOS in DOS mode please go to first post.

BTW, without the processor model, it's hard to tell whether the processor support VT-x or not.

    Hi Kizwan,
    Thanks for the quick reply!
I am using the same BIOS as you suggested above. Laptop's battery is full and connected to power supply. Though giving the same error.

I am following the same steps as you suggested in the first post. I tried using "phlash16.exe /x /s /mode=3 bios-filename" command, also executing the BIOS.bat file directly from the cmd prompt. Nothing happens. See the attached image for the error that I am getting.

BTW I have Intel core 2 duo T6500 2.10 Ghz processor model.
    Please Help!

Removed the "Memory Managers" file (probably EMM386.sys or EMM386.exe). If the error persist, follow the instruction at first post (Flash BIOS in DOS mode) to create clean DOS bootable disk.

Please use "BIOS.bat" to flash the BIOS.

Intel Core 2 Duo T6500 doesn't support VT-x nor IDA.

Thank you kizwan, i have seen that mod but i did not know that it was the same. Does it matter that i have Mobility Radeon HD5650 since you are mentioning 5470??? Moreover i think i read somewhere that the latest bios has disabled the recognition of the second hdd tray instead of optical drive, does modded one include the related option in BIOS?

    Regards Thank you V.much

You can use any of the modified BIOS. The ones with HD5470 in the name are for overclocking the HD5470. If you use them, it doesn't do anything except unlocked options since yours have HD5650. Better use the first one.

Regarding the 2nd HDD in a caddy (using optical drive bay), I did ask someone in Aspire 5740G thread about it. scud_svk (post #3978 & #3981) said the caddy works with BIOS v1.28.

Acer computer with the same model name like Aspire 5738DZG, Aspire 5738G, Aspire 5738Z & Aspire 5738ZG are using the same BIOS. Anyway, the model name & BIOS version are just a guide. I usually download & compare the BIOSes using Beyond Compare 3 to know for sure (when the computers share similar name & BIOS version).

Is this 32-bit OS? This is software related issue. IIRC, Microsoft released service pack for their Vista 32-bit to support 4GB++ RAM (or at least make Windows reporting 4GB usable).

    yes, it is 32-bit os. sp2 or sp3 make no difference. it's necessary to open kernel in hex editor, find original : BB 00 00 10 00 33 FF 6A 07 8B F0, modify to : BB 00 00 40 00 33 FF 6A 07 8B F0, then open boot.ini, copy and paste your original boot option, but add /pae /kernel="modifiedkernel"

    Hi kizwan,
Have you had any feedback about the Ferrari One bios?
I've an athlon TK-42 on my ferrari one, and I would like to enable cool'n'quiet option which is those hidden menus available with your bios.
I can easly access the internal notebook casing to remove the battery but I need to know if this bios works ok, because in case of non working bios there are no recovery options......
    Thank you for your help!

Hi, would it be possible to change the BIOS of an Acer Aspire 3680 to include the option to enable AHCI? That is the only thing I need, but don't have the technical knowledge to do it myself :(

It's not possible to enabled AHCI since it is not available/implemented on Aspire 3680.

just a question though, would it be a chip set limitation or an physical wiring limitation (SATA Ports) or would it be a BIOS/ Firmware issue. I am a curios person, so :D.

Most probably because physical configuration. In the chipset datasheet, you'll find that not all configuration have AHCI capability.

    Hi Kizwan,
    thank you for your bios,
I tested your bios for the Acer Ferrari One and the notebook booted up flawlessy.
The only problem I've encountered is that all the settings that were hidden can be changed but are not saved after exiting bios configuration screen.
I tried enabling cool'n'quiet, but after save and exit, at the imminent reboot cool'n'quiet is still disabled in bios like I never changed anything.
Could it be that the hidden options are also locked?
    thank you

If it doesn't work, most probably your notebook doesn't have compatible hardware for cool'n'quiet.
Sorry, there is no solution yet to modify shared video memory. I'm afraid there will be no development on this matter anytime soon.

Thank you. Have you tried your modified bios on the laptop 5738G? Or did you just change the software? I go to play it safe by updating my laptop, or my notebook can block?

If the new modificed BIOS doesn't work, my notebook can not start or have you just really tested on notebook 5738G?

thank you from Michele From ITALY

I need BIOS VT Enable because i would install Apple OS X Lion on WMWARE 7 under Windows 7. But for Lion X is request Bios Virtualization Enable.

I do not own Aspire 5738G laptop.

BTW, discussion on running Mac OS X on non-Apple computer is not allowed - Forum Rules.
