Hi, I have recently obtained an acer 7750G with 2 500 GB HDD's but can't configure it to raid in my BIOS. Is there something I can do?

On Aspire 5610, you need to use floppy disk for CRISIS disk. If not, BIOS recovery won't be successful.
Contact Acer support & explain to them you can't configure RAID.

    Hi,
I have a laptop with faulty bios.
I tried to flash with crisis recovery but usb flash stick is not recognized, i tried 3-4 ones no activity on the led.
    I tried varied compinations like fn+esc fn+b win+esc win+b etc.
What flasher do you suggest for my laptop?
    P.s
    Latest Bios is from 2008.
On boot i hear the DVD drive to try to read from it like normal then black screen, only Lights are on and shutdown takes a longer time with power button pressed.
    Thanks for any help given.

AFAIK the Aspire 5535 does not support recovery from flash drives. You MUST use a floppy drive. (Though possibly a flash drive low-level formatted for floppy emulation may work too.)

Does Anyone have a Bios Update for Acer Aspire 9410 to unlock the features?

I have a CPU that is stuck running at 798Mhz & 6x Multiplier when it should be Running at 2.0Ghz & 15x Multiplier. I think it may be something with the Speed Step Technology. I'm running Latest Bios Version 1.24.

My Bios only has 5 menu options..
    1. Information
    2. Main
    3. Security
    4. Boot
    5. Exit

There are no options to adjust anything for CPU or Power Management or anything. I've never seen a bios with this few options before even OEM.

I am beginning to think maybe my Bios update went wrong somehow.

I see some options are available from the Acer esettings and epower tools in windows, but nothing there helps.

I knew I was onto something! I used the Phoenix Bios Editor to Open a copy of the same Bios that I downloaded and it seems I am missing a menu from the bios.... "Advanced" is hidden

How am I going to get it back?

Modified BIOS for Aspire 9410 is available at post #12. There is no Speedstep menu in BIOS. With the modified BIOS, you can enabled/disabled Speedstep using ThrottleStop.

    @ ezebob2,

Please go to MDL & find TTAV134. He can help you removed wifi whitelist check in BIOS.

Thanks so much for the info...

This is going to sound very stupid, but I can't believe I finally solved the problem....after spending all night doing everything including restoring to factory recovery which didn't fix the issue either.
I did the the one simple thing that I completely overlooked. I set the bios to "Load Defaults" Now its running at 2GHZ Finally!!!!!!

Hi Kizwan, Do you have a bios mod for the Asus g60vx-2cjx?

Also i was wondering do asus's support the Crisis disk features?

The bios has little to no features, such as fan control which is a big deal for me.

    many thanks

When dealing with BIOS, whether using original or modified BIOS, there's always risk involved. My own notebook bricked when flashing with original BIOS. Fortunately, my notebook support BIOS recovery mode. Not all notebooks support BIOS recovery though. BIOS recovery also known as Boot Block BIOS Recovery. As the name suggested BIOS recovery mode is executed from Boot Block. Boot Block usually untouched when flashing BIOS. However, I noticed some manufacturer provide BIOS update that also flash Boot Block. This is not good practice. If Boot Block is corrupted, BIOS recovery will not possible. The only way to recover BIOS at this stage is by using BIOS/SPI/EEPROM Programming device.

The main tool I use for BIOS mod is hex editor. You can find all information you're looking for at first post.

I don't use Phoenix Editor anymore. It only usable with older BIOS. It only have limited functionality & only useful for re-building BIOS image. You can't unlock hidden menu with it. It also not reliable.

I'm still trying to digest your earlier post and suddenly you edit your post again. You can't use WinPhlash64 because it is not Phoenix BIOS. Your notebook have Dell-AMI BIOS.

This is a bit difficult. I can only give suggestion. Look like when I load the N5110A9.exe file into Phoenix Tool, the tool can decompressed it. This show you can rebuild modified BIOS in .EXE file too. Try that.

I just want to remind you, proceed at your own risk.

What is the advantage of intel virtualisation technology?
Is that can be putted on bios which has amd processor?
Anyway I am using acer aspire 4530 and using updated bios from acer website which is currently rev 1.336
Is that bios possible to mod it again? Maybe adding some features which I dunno yet?

I am getting 'Unable to compress HDR to bios.gz when trying to rebuild N5110A9.exe

Do I need to check extra options to do this? I would have expected it to work as well.

Is there a good AMI Flashing tool I may use instead?

Virtualization is useful if you're using virtual machine software such as VMware or VirtualBox (or any) to run 64-bit (guest) OS in windows/linux. I'm system integrator. Before doing any system implementation/migration, I ran a simulation; running multiple virtual machine which contain few servers & windows client. So, I need Virtualization. Most people don't need Virtualization.

Virtualization only available with VT-x capable processor. You can check at AMD website to know whether your CPU support VT-x or not.
It's not AMI BIOS. It based on AMI but Dell change them a bit. That's why I called it Dell-AMI BIOS. Older Dell BIOS can use "-readgzfile" parameter when flashing modified BIOS. Yours is newer Dell BIOS because it's UEFI & "-readgzfile" doesn't seems to work anymore. Might need to contact the Phoenix Tool author & report the problem.

I flashed my modified bios with afuwin. Everything worked fine except a highspeed fan and my gt-525m wouldnt work anymore.

I only changed half a byte. 5F to 5E which is only a slightly lower voltage.

Kizwan. Feel free to try if you are able to do it.

this is the module which contains the VBIOS'es
Then with HxD search for the first byte group:
That is the voltage table of the gt-525m
The bytes I marked in red are the voltages used by my card I have seen so far. I changed the last one to 5E but then my card fails to work or to be turned on. Well this could be normal behavior, maybe I just missed something.

But the card is detected by Windows though

You can use third party tool such as SetFSB for overclocking.
I'm able to extracted two VBIOS:-
    - GF108 Board - 1079df40
    - GF108 Board - 1079df50

Both start with "55 AA", 64KB in size & 0xFE00 length. I'm also able to open them with Nibitor v6.03.

I will try NiBiTor again. I know it is able to open the card. But I thought editing the VBIOS manually would give me more control. I will try again tomorrow. hopefully with success.

Hey guys, I've run into a problem with an Aspire 5650 of a friend.

The graphics chip is on its way out - it displays corrupted graphics on both the internal and external displays, even on the bios screen. A google search revealed that this, sadly, is not uncommon with the integrated nvidia chip.

While tinkering with the laptop, to see if anything could help, I tried flashing the latest official bios (v3.60) from Acer's website.

Since the XP installation was FUBAR'd I used phlash16 and a bootable usb stick (DOS) to flash it.

Everything went fine, phlash16 reported 'programming completed' or something similar and then the laptop froze completely - it wouldn't even power off, requiring a battery removal.

Obviously it won't turn back on again. No lights, no fan, nothing. Dead as a brick.

However, it seems to be sending power to the USB port, and when using the FN+Esc trick it seems to be able to read from a USB flash drive (the activity light on the flash drive blinks).

Now two things seem to be happening when trying the recovery trick - sometimes the USB flash will display short bursts of activity and other times it will keep showing continuous read activity for over 10-15 minutes.

    The laptop remains dead.

Any advice? I know the laptop is practically useless either way (with broken gfx) however I want to see if it can be brought back from the dead...
