I don't understand, how did you "enable the VT setting for the VM itself also"?

Hi KIZWAN!
I am sorry for my bad English. Could you help me understand my problem?

I have Acer Extensa 7630G. I want Intel-VT only. So, when I found this thread – Acer Laptop with Phoenix BIOS: Enable Virtualization (Test Machine: Acer Aspire 9420) – it looked excellent mine of information. ;)

CPU can work at VT-Enabled mode, as I am understand.

In beginning I was download BIOS from Acer site and open it in PBE (2.2.1.3), as you written on the front page of this thread. Then load the «BIOSCOD06.ROM» with WinHex to find mov ecx,0x3a. Unsuccesfully. ;)

OK, let read on. Next good example was on fourth page of that thread, by BOB12X. Again unsuccesfully – in paragraph 10.

OK, again read on. ;) Finally found this topic. 270 pages at foreign language – it is a hell! :D

Page 216, post #2153. You place modified BIOS image for TravelMate 7730G based on BIOS v2.3821. But it (base BIOS) for my EX7630G too! I flashed it. Notebook power on without bugs. Hooray! Hallelujah! But I rejoiced too early. Securable displayed same info. :(

But I do not switch VT-parameter in BIOS! OK, reboot and press «F2». Now I can see «Advanced» menu and «CPU control sub-menu»! It's work! I can't believe it! :D But I rejoiced too early soon. There is no Intel-VT menu... :(

Could you tell me where am I fail?

Maybe enable Intel-VT directly into BIOS NVRAM with utility SYMCMOS.EXE, if you tell me how to find the correct address for the replacement value from 0000 to 0001 .

P.S.: I am sorry for long and expressive message.

Hello KIZWAN,

Could you add the CPU MicroUpdate for the P8600 to the modified BIOS image for Packard Bell EasyNote TJ65 you already created ? (Packard Bell_EasyNote TJ65_BIOS_1.31_VT MOD.rar).This is because I'm planning to replace the Dual Core T4400 for a Core 2 Duo P8600. Hope you can help me with this.

Best Regards JP

So, what does it mean «Yes hardware D.E.P.» on SecurAble screenshot? I am not kidding, I am really do not know.

P.S.: I looked your link and seen that Intel-VT not support by P7350... :( Good news for me – VirtualBox work without this technology.

Thank you for answer.

One more question, if you can. Do you know – is it possible replace P7350 to P9600 at this notebook (Acer Extensa 7600)?

Is it Possible to help me with a bricked PackardBell TM98, that has an Insyde bios!! Its service manual talks about a BIOS recovery by Holding Fn + ESC before pressing power supply and after inserting the Crisis Disk. Then it talks about preparing the Crisis disk. But after Searching the internet for Weeks i still havent found a Crisis Disk Application for Insyde Bios, all i find relates in a way to Phoenix.

Thank you in advance!!

For Insyde, you simply need to rename a BIOS image file to a specific file name, and burn it to a CD (or in some models, copy to a FAT-formatted USB stick). The right file name varies by model, and can be found using AndyP's Phoenix <taboo word on this forum> T<taboo word="" on="" this="" forum="">ool.</taboo>

You can proceed with the CPU upgrade. The CPU microcode update is not needed for CPU detection.
VMware, VirtaulBox, VirtualPC & many other virtual machine software can run without VT-x. However, without VT-x, you won't be able to run 64-bit guest OS. Even if you can run 64-bit guest OS, it will run very slow.
According to Extensa 7630G specification, it have Intel PM45 chipset. P9600 is compatible with Intel PM45 chipset. Both P7350 & P9600 have the same Max TDP, build using same technology (45nm) & support same socket (PGA478). The only different between these two is "VID Voltage Range"; P7350 (1.062V-1.150V) & P9600 (1.050V-1.212V). Fortunately, T9600 which is listed in Extensa 7630G specification page also have "VID Voltage Range" 1.05V-1.2125V. So, I don't see any reason P9600 won't work.

The .ROM most probably Embedded Controller firmware. The .FD is definitely BIOS file.

Rename the .FD file to NEW70X64.fd. It might case sensitive, so make sure you rename it exactly NEW70X64.fd. Put the file in USB flash drive (FAT filesystem). The hotkey to trigger BIOS recovery should be Fn+Esc.
1. Plug the USB flash disk into a USB port.
2. Press Fn + ESC button then plug in AC power.
3. Press Power button to initiate system CRISIS mode.
When CRISIS is complete, the system auto restarts with a workable BIOS.

i have tried that too.. but the system just sits there for hours without even attempting to access the usb drive!!. i have tried making the flash drive bootable, formated it to 16mb, 32mb, 64mb, its original size is 8GB, i then tried using another usb flash drive original size 2GB formated it down to 16mb, 32mb, 64mb and the device just refuses to access the flash drive..

Yes Kizwan I increased it to 512 megs (uma frame buffer) in advanced NB but it remains stuck at 256 megs regardless and dosen't save the setting

I was hoping to increase the VRAM to 512 megs and then hopefully slightly overclocking the CPU and RAM - but it appears locked! Even with the 3303 bios mod.

To overclock, you at least need to know the Clock Generator use in your notebook. Then you can check in the datasheet whether it allow increasing the bus speed or not. This is the only way if CPU have locked multiplier.

How to mod Dell XPS 15 L502X A06 BIOS?

Your notebook doesn't have battery? I don't have the solution you're looking for but I'll let you know when I have one.
What kind of mod are you looking for? If unlocked hidden menu, I can't. This is Phoenix SecureCore Tiano BIOS (UEFI).
Did you try using NiBiTor? Why do you want to do it manually if the tool is available?

Well when extracting the BIOS1.WPH with Phoenix Tool I get 4-5 ROM files of which 2 of them seem to contain data. Rest are empty padding ROMs

I tried searching for string Nvidia in those 2 extracted ROM files and couldn't find anything.
I only want to undervolt/overclock the Nvidia card for that person

The GT-525M GT-540M and GT-550M can all be undervolted to 0.83v. Both GT-525M and GT-540M can also be set to the clocks of the GT-550M. They seem to share totally the same hardware. The GT-525M and GT-540M have 99% the same vBIOS while the GT-550M is very different. I bet this is valid for all GF108 based cards.

If you run the GF108 Fermis at 0.83v highest clocks are 740/1480/900
I did not test other voltages

EDIT: 0.86v is my current voltage for 740/1480/900
The lower voltages are unstable but don't cause artifacts.

Hi Kizwan, I am trying to mod my bios to have a different splash screen. I know my laptop is not an Acer one but I have been searching over the internet on how to change mine and members of the community have told me that you might be able to help me.

My laptop is a rebranded ECS MB40II5 with a Phoenix new structure bios.

Here are the download links for my bios and the RW everything report.

Is it possible to mod my BIOS? I am trying to change it to just black or something just neutral. Thank you in advance.

No need to make CRISIS disk bootable. It is not required. The last thing you can try is by re-creating CRISIS disk in Windows XP 32-bit, if you haven't done so. If BIOS Boot Block has been corrupted, BIOS recovery is impossible. BIOS Boot Block play major role in BIOS recovery. When BIOS Boot Block detected corrupted BIOS, it will trigger BIOS recovery. If BIOS Boot Block itself corrupted, BIOS recovery will not engaged.

Disassemble your notebook & find the CMOS/RTC battery. Disconnect the CMOS battery for a couple of seconds & put it back.

Please would you be able to help in making available a modified BIOS for Dell Studio 1555 based on the A13 revision.

I need to unlock the Intel menu so that I can alter ACPI settings, which I believe are all within the hidden Intel menu?

I will gladly make a donation to yourself or a charity of your choice in return for a modded working BIOS.

Many thanks indeed.

OK. I'll mod the BIOS for you. I'll update here after I finish working on your BIOS.

Hi, I'm new here..Great job! I was wondering if you can help me
with my Packard Bell Phoenix bios (it's 100% an Acer notebook).
It's a Packard Bell EN-TR86 also known as Gateway ID58.

My configuration
[IMG]

These are (from service manual) all CPU mounted in various models
[IMG]

I'd like to upgrade the cpu with one of these
-t9600 (already bios supported)
-t9800
-t9900
or
-P9700 (has voltage range not seen in ant other cpu on this laptop, 1.012–1.175 V)
or (maybe at good price)
-e8335 @2,66
-e8335 @2.93

Those days, reading various pages of the thread I realized that you can help me decide what to do..
I need to unlock virtualization unlocked options, etc..
This is the latest PB bios
BIOS PB TR86

Waiting for the oracle :) Have a nice day

All the above are compatible with Intel PM45 + ICH9M chipset. One of the e8335 have higher TDP (44W). I don't know whether your notebook support it or not. Regarding the BIOS (VT menu), I'll take a look later. I'll update here after I finish working on your BIOS.

Thank you very much for the ultra-fast answer :D
If it works, I think p9700 will win the challenge..
have a nice day!

Just bought p9700..
Re- searching vcore data, i find that p9700 has 1.012–1.175 V and not 1.050V-1.2125
Will my MB support it?

EDIT:I found the answer.. all ok. The ADP3207A, as datasheet says
"uses an internal 7-bit digital-to-analog converter (DAC) to read voltage
identification (VID) code directly from the processor that sets
the output voltage." :D
and supports 0.3-1.7 V

lots of thermal paste on this site. You can compare hundreds of shops and hundreds of products. All the shops are located in Holland but this website will give you a very good comparison of the prices
