do you mean accumulator = CPU ?
-
-
Yes, the accumulator, but in sense of battery.

acer laptop I often die suddenly with no warning
normal temperature of 50-55 Celsius
My laptop is now a matter of !!! help me -
Your problem is not related to BIOS at all. Temperature is not necessarily the cause of the hardware problem in laptops. Please send to Acer service/support center for repair.

Hi jesseicp:
I'm new in this forum. What I'm looking for is to enable the virtualization feature in my Aspire 5100 (same as yours). I tested the BIOS that you attached to your post and I got the Advanced tab but there is no option to enable virtualization. Could you please tell me if there is a way to enable it. Thanks so much.

At the beginning of this thread, there is a tutorial on how to enable VT (Virtualization Technology) on Acer laptops with Phoenix BIOS. It's a somewhat difficult procedure if you're not familiar with all the tools involved, but if you're a savvy user, the instructions are excellent enough that you should be able to follow them.
This link should take you there:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/acer/480992-acer-laptop-phoenix-bios-bios-mod-request.html
If it can be done, this is how to do it.
However, if you wait around for a more experienced/knowledgable user from this thread, you might come across someone that has already modified our BIOS for VT that can upload an image for you. -
kizwan:
After more investigation, I have come to find out that this SATA controller (ATI 4379/Silicon Image 3112) is only capable of running fake raid and generally comes stock with BIOS installed for IDE only mode. On Silicon Image's support site they offer two separate BIOS and drivers. One is for IDE and one is for running SATARAID.
Many users with the Silicon Image 3112 have had great amounts of success by updating the storage controller's BIOS to the newest SATARAID BIOS. They offer a tool for updating add on cards and separate BIOS for add on cards and system integration. My situation is that after a ton of reading and messing around with various applications I'm left knowing that Phoenix BIOS is on of the bigger pain in the butt BIOS to modify and can't be done with a simple integration tool like AMI and Award BIOS. It has to be done with Phoenix BIOS Editor, which I have and can review my BIOS, but I just have no clue what I'm looking at and feel like I'm another 5 hours worth of studying away from being able to complete what might be an easy task for you.
Therefore, I was wondering if you might be willing to integrate the SATARAID BIOS provided by Silicon Image into either the untouched BIOS Acer provides:
Untouched Acer Aspire 5100 BIOS v3.13
Or, even better, with the modified BIOS that I uploaded in my first post.
The Silicon Image SATARAID BIOS can be downloaded here:
Silicon Image 3112 SATARAID BIOS v4402
I think the r4402.bin is the one that I need integrated, but if you could, would you take a look at the description here and figure out which one is proper for system integration? It might be the abbreviated .bin file, but the description doesn't specify if it is also a SATARAID BIOS.
This is my final attempt at this project, haha. If updating the BIOS for this chipset still leaves it incompatible with newer SATA drives, I'll deem the hardware too old.
Again, thanks for your time and help. -
Hi jesseicp,
Firmware for device like ethernet, SATA controller, VGA (GPU), etc are called OPROMXX (module) in Phoenix BIOS, where XX are 01, 02, 03 & so on. I checked OPROMXX modules in Aspire 5100 BIOS, none of them related to SATA controller, only PXE (ethernet) & ATI VBIOS. So, the SATA controller (Silicon Image 3112) firmware is not integrated in BIOS (a.k.a. SBIOS for system BIOS). I believe you can programmed/flash the SATA controller firmware directly using special utility (from here maybe) because it probably/should have it own flash chip. -
Well, after spending the better part of yesterday working on this project again and taking your advice to flash the chip as an add on card, these are my resuts.
Here are the outputs that I get from SiFlashTool (Windows tool ran as admin):
If attempt is made at flashing with Windows 7 running normally:
"C:\Silicon_Image\WinFlashTool>siflashtool /File:r4402.bin
Silicon Image Flash BIOS programming tool version 1.0
Selected Sil 4379 on PCI bus: 0x00 device: 0x12"
After the "Selected Sil4379" line, the prompt locks up.
If /V switch is entered (Offers device information):
"C:\Silicon_Image\WinFlashTool>siflashtool /v
Silicon Image Flash BIOS programming tool version 1.0
Controller Type PCI Location Flash Part BIOS Ver. BIOS Date
==============================================================
Sil 4379 Bus:00 Dev:12 UNKNOWN UNKNOWN UNKNOWN"
If I run SiFlashTool in safe mode, it can't find any silicon image controllers. The same thing happens if I run it at prompt from Windows 7 safe mode and Windows XP boot disk.
When using the DOS tool, UPDFLASH, it doesn't work in Windows 7, since it's a 16bit program, and when I boot from Hiren's Boot CD or Windows 98 boot CD and run it, it doesn't see any Silicon Image controllers. However, when I run it in safe mode from Windows XP mini via Hiren's Boot CD, it responds "PCI bus scan" and then locks up.
I feel like whatever issue is causing the /V switch to respond "unknown" and SiFlashTool and UPDFLASH to lock up is going to be the same. I also think that when UPDFLASH doesn't find any Silicon Image controllers in DOS it has not loaded the storage controller yet.
Is it possible that this chip is encrypted and unflashable?
If not, do you have any other ideas for me to shoot at this thing before I give up on it? I was surprised to hear you say that the BIOS appears that it's not integrated as it's definitely an integrated component of the motherboard and most of the other motherboard's from desktop board manufacturers that use the ATI 200m chipset (which uses the ATI rs482 south bridge and ATI 4379 SATARAID controller/Silicon Image 3112) all report having the BIOS integrated in motherboard bios and they were all able to update to the newest SATARAID BIOS to solve the same issue that I'm experiencing.
The only other thing that I can think of to try at this point is to try and run a distro of Linux on live CD and use flashrom to try to flash it. However, I am not extremely proficient with Linux and with education time involved it will surely take another 3-5 hours just to attempt it and it could still not work.
Thanks again for all your help on this....I have trouble giving up on things.

Hi kizwan :
I have a problem with my 5553G laptop. I tried to setup second HDD on it
(replace ODD with HDD).
It seems not support dual HDD... I startup the laptop , it block at acer logo and I can't get into BIOS while click F2... -
@jesseicp,
I wrote " ... SATA controller (Silicon Image 3112) firmware is not integrated in BIOS ...". I didn't say the SATA controller is not integrated on the motherboard. When I say " firmware is not integrated in BIOS", I meant the firmware for SATA controller is not stored in system BIOS. This show SATA controller firmware is located somewhere else on the motherboard (it have it own flash chip). If the special utility unable to flash the SATA controller, it means the chip is not programmable. "Forced" integrating the SATA controller firmware in system BIOS will not work since the original firmware is located somewhere else.
@Anthony30334,
Sorry, I don't know what's wrong there. Look like BIOS "panicked" when trying to initialized the second HDD. This is BUG in the BIOS. I can't do anything. -
I checked the boot order menu
The first one is IDE HDD and the second is "IDE CD".
I guess that's the reason while booting...
It's locked with ODD. Can it be mod into HDD? -

Hi Guys and kizwan Ive been lurking here for about two months and I had tried your mod on BIOS and it works perfectly on other laptops but I had a problem on one ACER aspire 4310 model , I had download and use your BIOS image based on v1.18 but the system memory and extended memory is still locked using "Aspire 4310 BIOS v1.18 EIST MOD.rar" on post #2104 . Can I have a another request of BIOS MOD for Aspire 4310 currently i revert back the bios to v1.18 as per acer website to keep it safe .
Current hardware :
Acer 4310
Intel Core2duo T5300 1.73 Ghz
2 Gb 667 ( will upgrade to 4 gb if possible )
320 gb of HDD
BIOS v1.18
Thanks a lot for your help in advance. -
Hi guys
I have change the cpu (T3400) with T7500 on my acer aspire 5735Z
now on startup i have this message
"no microcode update loaded for alternate processor"
Press f1 to resume
i press f1 and system start up normally
Any help?
Thanks
p.s. bios version V1.13 -
Aspire 4750G have Phoenix SecureCore Tiano BIOS (UEFI). UEFI is not supported yet. Alternatively, you can try find someone who is very good in assembly language to enabled VT-x in the BIOS. I can disassemble & analyzed it but I'm not very good & can take long time.
You & the other owner should push Acer to provide BIOS (UEFI) with VT-x enabled or at least an option in BIOS (UEFI) to enabled VT-x.
I don't know why it can't boot when HDD is connected to ODD port.
I already modded BIOS v1.18. Sorry, I don't have plan to modded it again.
Please post download link to original & untouched BIOS. -
Hi man
My laptop have bios V1.13 but on the acer website i can see only V1.08
In the bios i can see also, Acer 5735 (not 5735Z) maybe the bios is the same?
Acer website
My bios
Thanks -
Without strong reason, downgrading BIOS is not advisable. If possible try request the BIOS v1.13 from Acer support.
-
Ok man, i have sent mail to acer. I hope in a reply

Hi
Request update of CPU Microcode for 5738. I'm running T7500 instead of T4200 but get errormessage while Bios. I have to press F1 to continue booting.
Can somebody please add the cpu microcode to the already unlocked Bios?

I have a small problem opening a bios file .wph extension. The dreaded "No BCPs found".
I was unsucessful with hexeditor in determining the cause. The bios dump, as usual is "invalid rom length".
Rename the extension from .zip to .wph
The download link is here. -
kizwan, could you help with enabling Vt-x on aspire 5610z. I already tried:
1. the bios from bob12
2. your bios for aspire 5610
The first BIOS from bob makes my screen unusable before OS puts it into VESA (or some other) mode. I didn't see vtx enabled with it though. Fortunately I was able to blind-downgrade BIOS with a bootable flash drive.
Your BIOS image works fine but I can't see the VT-x menu entry in BIOS setup. My CPU is T2080 which shows up as supporting VT-x according to intel site.
Why could it not work?
edit: FYI I checked with symcmos that 0312 is set to 0001. I also tried setting 030F and 0330 according to this article, still with no luck. I am wondering what could be wrong.
edit2: I also looked at BIOSCOD6 with nasm according to this post and see the 3 addresses from above in use so I'm out of any more ideas how to solve the problem or at least know what's wrong... I was wondering how to lnow where 0xf000:0x3d40 is although I doubt I will understand what is the code on that address doing
edit3: I ran the vt.iso and it shows no support for any of the cores. Then I wanted to check if the CPU has one of the errata mentioned in the vmware vt.iso page. I opened CPU datasheet of yonahlinked from the t2080 cpu page above and I see no mention of vt-x, so the whole thing seems very strange to me.
edit4: Does VT-x need chiset support? I thought this is a CPU-only feature but I see no reason for it not working. How can one check the chipset?
edit5: very strange, bughunter2 post here indicates setting 0x0312 to 0001 should enable VT-x but it doesn't for me?! -
Ok,
I have a good DSDT.aml, the question now is how to mod the bios with this new DSDT table.
I am in acer aspire 5050, bios version v.3315 ( same bios of aspire 3050 ).

Hey there I need your help.
I have a dell XPS 15 L501X with a Samsung SSD 830, but it does not perform well, because of the chipset saving features, is it possible to unlock them(to disable C states) in the BIOS, If so please help me as I have the latest A08 BIOS.
Thank you for listening!
Have a good day.

Hi, same kind of request here, have an Acer 7738G with PM45/ICH9M chipset which results in suboptimal performance of the Samsung 830 SSD (e.g. sluggish 4K read/write).
As stated at various places on this forum, the slugginess appears to relate to aggressive energy-saving policies of the hardware. Some recommend disabling/tweaking the C1E state of the CPU, either by software (registry settings in Windows or 3rd-part software) or in the bios.
Thanks to the greatest forum ever, I successfully flashed my Bios to unlock hidden CPU options ( Phoenix 1.13mod).
Now I'm confused as to which settings have to be toggled on or off...

Hi kizwan!
The BIOS modified has all the menu options enabled? I can't see the imageshack hyperlinks from here and i can't download from mediafire too so if you can reupload it somewhere else it would be great. Ihanks!Last edited by a moderator: Feb 6, 2015 -
Hi kizwan,
I've tried your 5520 bios mod in my 7520G, the computer boots and all is fine, some settings are unlocked. But the AHCI option does not work.
When set to AHCI from IDE, the screen shows that AHCI option rom loaded succesfully, continues the POST, and then it simply stops. Only the cursor blinks on the screen, my SSD - or any other device - won't boot (but not because of the Windows).
Restarting the laptop the BIOS setting is reversed to IDE by itself.
I've tried other 7520 modded bios too, but to no avail, the AHCI setting doesn't do anything, it remains IDE.
Hope you read this, even after a year. Thank you. -
I have an old Acer TravelMate 240 and I want to unlock some of the hidden features in this Phoenix BIOS.
Basically any feature concerning the processor control, HyperThreading, Speedstep, etc.
BIOS: V1.15BACKUP.rar
Thanks in advance. -
Kizwan,
you have modified 2 BIOS files for our Gateway P-78XXu laptop's, my question now having used both of them...
can you somehow take the fan speed settings from the .17 bios and replace the ones in the .23 bios? I dont get any of the screen or hardware issues I had with .17, but the thing heats up WAY more then it did prior...
I think that modifying the fan speed settings you said was too hard or impossible, but I am wondering if its possible to swap this portion out from an earlier revision of the BIOS...
If possible, I have both the modified .17 and .23 BIOS files (you do as well if you keep them i think), and could link them if its possible...
I am no longer annoyed by hardware issues, but this thing is getting too hot to use on anything but a desk with a lapfan...
Thanks again
EDIT: ah: "- patch DSDT table - depend on me whether it is worth or not" well if you deem it so I guess... my CPU doesnt have much issue, its GPU... gets to 180F without turning on high, 140F is high in my book
:X
EDIT: custom would be great, because at the moment, I dont think it turns on at all until 170F, and even then it sure as hell aint on high... and only for a moment to get it 1F below the threashold...

Hello folks,
I know this is a thread for Acer, but I would be greatfull if somebody would unlock my bios Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pi 1536. Which is also Phoenix. Other sites on the net is mostly slic. I would like as much as possible unlocked.
Laptop upgraded with T7600 and SSD corsair. The Sata settings are hidden, so I have to work with Intel Matrix Storage Manager. Hardly any setting visuable . The list from kizwan in the first post looks very attracktive.
I tried with PBE en Hex,but that is out of my leage.
My bios is version 1.25
The link: Technical Support pages from Fujitsu
File name: FTS AmiloPi1536Pi15_125.rar
What I read afterwards, is that the alienware M5550 version 2.07 works perfectly with the Pi 1536, also with future update to Ati HD3650.
The thing missing is the hidden menu's. Would you be so kind to unlock this bios for me? I have seen Alienware bioses with a lot of features. So you would really do me a big favor to get this bios unlocked.
Thanks for your time.

Hi.
One week ago I decided to update my 2,5 year old laptop. Among these updates were a BIOS flash, but unfortunately it failed halfway through. After that I got a bluescreen and were not able to turn it off without taking out the battery and removing the AC cord. When I then tried turning it on lights up and I can't even see the Acer-logo before it shuts down and goes on into an endless loop. I have tried pressing fn+esc while turning it on and then the power led blinks two or three times before it shuts down. I have tried recovering the BIOS with a USB several times, but it always fails.
Do you believe it will make any difference using a floppy drive making the recovery disc in Windows XP?
Thanks in advance! -
Hi, I have been searching this topic for almost an hour and can't seem to find the answer on my question. I have an AS 5520G and would like to change my Sata0 mode. I can only find the 5520 bios mod. Can I use this one or will this brick my lappy?
-
Hi. I have an Aspire 7520G. Bios is identical to 7520, 5520 and 5520G. HOWEVER all my efforts with unlocked bioses were unsuccesful to change the SATA mode to AHCI. It only works on IDE. No benefit whatsoever to reflash your bios with an unlocked one, I know already.
-
I took the shot and it worked ;-) and as you wrote it won't boot in AHCI mode. Something with Nvidia boot agent failing to boot....
-
Tooni11, Bo0bz,
Have been dealing with the SATA setting as wel in the Phoenix bios on a Amilo 1536. Tried to get the bios mod,but no luck, seems to be to difficult.
Changed HDD for SSD and wanted to set bios in AHCI mode. no luck there, only IDE. Solution for me was Intel Matrix Storage Manager, which emulates AHCI mode and Win7 recognozes drive as such. Speeds up transfers a lot. Windows
Index went up from 4,2 to 7,1 on the drive, Guess I stick with this solution. -
Well I have and AMD cpu with an Nvidia chipset ;( Intel storage manager doesn't suppor this.
-
Forgot to look at your chipset, sorry.
