CR-48 Spot: Acer's Chromebook: 11.6in, 6.5 Hour Battery Beast - $349
Google has been promoting their CR-48 line for some time now, but what do you guys think about Acer's Chromebook offering? I'm kind of impressed as to the functionality of the instant-on, long lasting battery - but in terms of the whole Cloud-based OS, it seems like it may be a bit premature.
The CR-48 was also much "cheaper" (though you can't really compare free to anything else) - do you think the price point will hurt Acer?

The rumor is that the price point is around $350 for the WiFi-only version. Seeing as how I can get a comparable netbook with Windows for the same price, Google has to do a few things to compete: lower the price to around $200, or offer some compelling hardware features.
But, I do like the Chromebooks for Education & Business program, where you can "lease" a Chromebook for $28/month ($20/month for students). I might drop $20 for a month to test-drive a Chromebook.
I figure, I can spend at least that much going out to the bars in one night. Yay, college town! -
I think you have to commit to a 3 year lease. At least for the Business rate.

Yeah, saw that shortly after posting. Damn, got my hopes up.

I have one of the prototype Cr-48 laptops and yes they are fast coming up but everything else is slow about them. They have no functions keys or delete key. The chrome store isn't that great. No I did download Joilcloud and it had some decent business (better then chrome store) but it's all in the cloud. I don't care if my company store its financial information in the cloud but I'm not putting my credit card info on anyone else's server.
