Was extremely tempted to purchase this for my wife, everything is perfect in it, but the screen omg, it's total rubbish. The brightness level is too dim, just too dim. i had it compared with various even cheaper laptops of various brands and the m5 481tg brightness level was too poor. The screen is also reflective and the lack of brightness makes it worse, i had a laptop before where i saw my the reflection of my face rather than the screen :p

anyone else who bought this felt the same way about the screen being a piece of trash ? I just can't get myself to buy it due to the screen, however the features and price tag $780 is v tempting.

There are usually different LCD panels being used on every notebook model so you might want to check it out.
You would have to buy at a brick and mortar store rather than online and it would still be a bit of a gamble since even if the unit on display had the LCD you wanted it doesn't necessarily mean other units at this store use the same one too.

Almost all 14" screens that are 1366 x 786 are rubbish, I have yet to see a good one yet. Think I notice the most is the 14" screen all seem to invert their colours really bad when even moving a tiny bit off centre. This does not make the M5 any different to the rest.

If you want some motivation (your wife will not care likely) the GPU is one of the (if not the) best that can be had in a small platform for the price. Check out this for powerful:
