Hi all. My wife's trusty M5-581TG-73516G52Mss has blown a backlight which leaves a nasty triangular (apex at top) smudge on the bottom, about 6cm at the base and slightly higher. I have repaired/replaced parts before including the bezel and know how to disassemble etc. Also, a kind soul here uploaded to dropbox the manual SG_M5-581TG.pdf and there is no mention in there of two types of LCD module
I took the notebook to a computer repairman and he told me he ordered the LCD module but then a few weeks later told me he needed to disassemble the entire screen case because his supplier had told him there were two possible LCD modules for the above unit type (M5-581TG-73516G52Mss) and a relevant identifier is on the inside of the screen case or somesuch - therein lying the reason for me to take it in to be disassembled so he can order the correct screen.
To me, this seems a bit odd. Surely there would be only one screen for this model? Can anyone shed any light on this please?
Kind regards

Hello!
According to zandparts, for your laptop there really are two screens possible. I think both are the same, just newer revision. But I can be mistaken as I`ve never worked with new Acer laptops yet.
