    Good morning -
    In this post
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=218094
the OP was able to get vista working again after creating a disc from the UBCD4Win website and running "fixmbr"
    http://ubcd4win.com/index.htm

Can anyone explain what is the deal with Acer MBR's? I'm under the impression that Acer tweaks a generic vista MBR in certain ways but not sure and want to understand.

For instance, the Alt+F10 key combination to start the Acer recovery utility. Does Alt+F10 wake up a function in BIOS, or in the Acer-tweaked MBR?

Would using UBCD4Win ruin an Acer MBR right from the factory? Would it only be useful if you've re-installed from your recovery discs?

How I miss the good old days when you got a real true Windows CD...
