Hey @.NetRolller 3D do you still have the modded bios for Acer Aspire 6920G? I'm going to upgrade my Aspire 6920G soon with a T9500 processor, Nvidia GeFore 9600m GT DDR3 Revision C1, and a new wireless card and blu ray drive.

Would love to have the most recent bios for my laptop, since I don't want to run into issues with the graphics card like everyone else did a few years ago...

Don't think Netroller is online anymore guys, you have to search around for the files somewhere else.

    Hi there!

I just wanted to share my experience about uncompatible SUBSYS_ id and how i fixed it.

My stock videocard has fried (like to many others :D), so i have bought a replacement (9600M GT 1024MB DDR2) here:
    100% new NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT(G96 630 C1) DDR2 MXMII 1024MB 128bit ,VG.9PG06.009, VGA card for Acer 6930G,6935G ect.-in Graphics Cards from Computer & Networking on Aliexpress.com

It started working with 7720G even without needing to upgrade the system BIOS. The only problem is that due to an unknown SUBSYS i was unable to install the drivers.
Here is the device ID string: VEN_10DE&DEV_0649&SUBSYS_061C10DE

I knew how to fix it in the *.inf file, but i decided to change SUBSYS id directly in the VBIOS.
I checked *.inf files for compatible SUBSYS and decided to use this one: VEN_10DE&DEV_0649&SUBSYS_01461025

    1. Okay, now we gonna dump the VBIOS:
      Code:
      nvflash --save vbios.rom
    2. Then we have to open it with hex editor and find where the SUBSYS id (061C10DE) are located.
It goes with a reverse byte order (little endian), so 06 1C 10 DE turns to DE 10 1C 06.
Okay, we found it at offset 0x54.

    3. Now we have to replace an old SUBSYS id with a new one (01461025).
      It also goes with a reverse byte order, so 01 46 10 25 turns to 25 10 46 01. Replacing the bytes:

    4. Next we gonna flash modifed VBIOS:
Our new SUBSYS id doesn't match the adapter one, so we have to use --overridesub parameter (or -6, works the same) to bypass this.
      Code:
      nvflash --overridesub vbios.rom
      [IMG]

    5. We've done!

On the next reboot Windows will install the videodriver :)

See my post on page 116, it will help you on 9920g+9600MGT, please note it will only work in windows, and if you want to try ubuntu or any other Linux, you will need 9500MGS+original 8600mgt vbios as what I have now.

yo, i checked that MEGA link there, and i didnt find the modded bios for the aspire 7520g, kinda need it, after i threw in a 9600m gt to replace the obviously dead 8400m g. started with the 30second countdown (read thats kinda normal when throwing a new card in) when it posts, it posts to external vga, but i can hardly see whats going on, i managed to update to the newest bios version from acer from dos, now i just think i need the modded bios, to get everything working again

    cheers

oh yeah, silly me, forgot to notice that when i updated the bios, though now that i've flashed it, the only thing changed was the countdown has vanished, i still cannot see anything on the laptops screen, can hardly see anything on external vga, dvi doesnt work, cannot install driver either, i'm lost in this mess... could it be the motherboard? even though the old 8400 card would use the laptop screen, but wouldnt run with the driver..

my knowledge in laptops is thin..

When I try to flash my 5920G SBIOS with NetRolller 3D BIOS from pure MS DOS using a hard disk formated to a FAT32, I hear buzzer sounds and I think that this bios is not compatible. Do I have to place /Force parameter ? I don't have succees with crisisdisk and the fn-esc procedure neither wincris 1.0.0.4 had place the files it says (minidos, bios.wph) on the usb.

    Hi .NetRolller 3D,

how I can find if my 5920G is really upgraded with your 5920G_MXM_V3.WPH bios? I updated it form within a Windows XP 32bit version with the help of terminal services (RDP - remote desktop connection) by using the Phoenix Winphlash. At the time it go to update the bios and actually flash it, then it just reboots. It's not shutdown gracefully like when we choose the "shutdown" button. It's just reboot.

If it upgraded successfully You will have much more options in "Main" tab in bios. In basic bios, options in tab "Main" end with "SATA Mode" ,where .NetRolller 3D bios is unlocked and contains more positions.

    Hello .NetRolller 3D,

I read more than 100 pages in this thread, but didn't found anything about 9920g + 8600M GS.. Can you please help me with proper vbios or at least explain how can I modify vbios by myself?

My current 8600M GS vbios can be found here (saved by nvflash). This card is from another Acer; I don't know exact model number. I inserted it into friends' 9920g, it works great with external monitor, but doesn't show anything on boot on laptop screen (mxm structure problem? I already updated sbios with your 1.20_mxm_v2.wph). When Windows is loaded, laptop screen is full of flickering and wrong colors (I've tried multiple nvidia drivers, including "microsoft vga", "microsoft's nvidia", original Acer nvidia drivers, 275.33, latest from nvidia site).

    Thanks in advance,
    Vadim.

Regards: Acer Idea Aspire 510 – ultimate upgrade
I am a fun of Acer Idea 510 – Multimedia PC built on notebook parts. I have upgraded it to highest available CPU; memory; disc and graphics from Nvidia Go 7600 to 9500GS: DEV:0405 SUBSYS:01211025 rev. A1, Bios:60.84.62.00.40. Everything works perfectly.
Now, I am trying to upgrade it to 9600 GT because I have problem with FullHD BD films. I bought 9600GT - DEV:0649 SUBSYS:056710DE rev.A1. Unfortunately, I have got MXM structure error. I have modded SBIOS shortening 30s waiting to 1, excluding beep and changing clocks and the card is running at full speed – that’s good news.
Bad news is that in this configuration the card doesn’t recognize any monitor on DVI (main output) as PnP – all monitors are not PnP and available resolutions are wrong and what is more important the PC doesn’t recognize HDMI connected monitor at all. This make the multimedia PC unusable.
I would be very grateful for finding the solution for making Idea 510 working with 9600GT (this one or any other).
If you could take a look at BIOS of Idea 510 and see if the MXM structure can be modded to support 9600 it would be grate. The newest BIOS is here:
    Link to BIOS: ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/desktop/asp...R02-C2.rar
    Version: R02-C2
Board: W945GT used in Acer Idea 510 Media Center
The Acer Idea 510 is still very popular (in my opinion still the best MCE) and upgrading it to 9600 GT would allow to use it for Full HD content.
I do count on your help especially . NetRolller 3D . I can add all necessary BIOSes and SBIOSes if needed.

    Thanks in advance

i buy an nvidia quadro fx 770m gt 512mb ddr3 for my laptop acer aspire 7720g after my nvidia 9500m gs after the known defect, i read that this card is compatible after a bios update, i update the bios in this version CL50145A.rar but as i read the update of the video bios require a copy of the old gpu with gpu_z and some change in values of the card. well, the old card was dead, for this reason i send the laptop to a programmer who say that he do it without the old card and still nothing. i buy this card from a seller who hasen't negative feedback for new, but after all that my mind stuck, maybe is the card, maybe i do whrong step or maybe is the motherboard.
i haven't say that a time ago i have change my motherboard, from tripod to hannstar.
i want you opinion about all this.

    Hi,
    I have 9920G laptop.
Looking to most post in this threat i did manage to install Nvidia Geforce 9300M GPU .
I did use modified bioses from first page and as well for laptop as for GPU.
Finely i got intern display working but was big trouble to find working driver.
    They refuse to install.
Then i started laptop in safe modus and to my surprise i could install latest driver from Nvidia for my GPU ( 335.23 ) !
GPU now work very good i got temp.from 49 to 73 Celsius witch is OK for this laptop.

    Hi all. :O)

Trying some experiment with a modded GT230M (soldering Vbios directly on the PCB + resistance) in a 5920G, but : Blackscreen.

@NetRoller3D : i'm ready to experiment some modded bios or Vbios if you could/want solve this problem.

No need to solder, follow this guide. It works like a charm, and it's like 10 minutes work. I've tried it on Toshiba HD4650.

Are you sure that your 5920G works? It could be faulty MoBo. What kind of thermal interface you use in 5920G? It's always best to put copper shim between the core and the heat-sink.

9600M GT should run on 8920. However this has been seen before. Go to the TechpowerUp website and try all the 9600M GT DDR2 vbioses. One should work.

@DoZe - Try the stock BIOS from Acer's website - v1.3813 and tell us how it goes. If it's not the card itself (it works in your 7720G, so it's not) and if it's not overheating (most likely not), there is nothing else I could think of.

@u6b36ef - Long time no see! Where have you been :D

The links are long dead and there is little chance that someone is going to reupload them. I can only help you with ASUS GT 240m 1GB DDR3 vBIOS. It might be incompatible and might brick your GPU!!! Take your chances and here you go: View attachment GT240.zip

    Good luck!

There's no GT 230m vBIOS though.

I thought .NetRoller included everything in the reup.
Well, maybe he'll stop by at some point and reup the rest..
