I have replaced the 2nd dead 8600MGT to 9600MGT in my 9920g, but windows7 will always freez and reboot after I follow blackened87's step-by-step on page 73, is there any one who success and could share your experience on this one? Thanks

Since fitting the card everything has been ok, however I seem to be getting some random shutdowns during prolonged gaming. I find this rather weird considering the GPU temps dont go above 85C and thats pretty relaxed for this type of card. Also the CPU and Motherboard temps stay around 50C which is pretty cool.
Need to get to the bottom of this issue pretty soon as its starting to drive me insane lol
We can surely collaborate on some benchmarks, as far as I know the DDR3 in FX770 will only be slightly faster than DDR2 in the 9600M GT 1GB. -
Hello codysun2013, did you get the modded Sbios for the 9920g?? I can not find it everywhere. I still have prob with only external monitor and 30 sec timer. If you have it can you sent it to my gmx account?? I have also 9600m gt 1024mb. but the driverinstall i did not try cause of missing sbios.

I have the acer 7520 with nvidia 9600m gt and install mod unlock bios. When open the laptop turns out error when I open the win 7 can not install drivers. Is there a solution; Thank you.

To All who need BIOS or advice about 9920g:
you will be able to find out everything you need from Accueil - ACER ASPIRE 9920
It is blog in French, google translator is a good portal for those who does not speak this language.
step by step for 9920g with 9600mgt
(1) flash sbios, bake your old 8600mgt if necessary
(2) remove 8600mgt, install 9600mgt, boot to winpe from USB drive, it will work only on external monitor, flash vbios, now you have internal monitor works after reboot.
(3) install windows7
(4)download latest video driver from laptopvideo2go with modded INF
(5)install video driver with Modded INF, it will allow you to install.(I am using V326.41), and reboot
(6)download PowerMizer Manager , enable the feature and fixed the performance to Med or Max, do not set it to min performance, it will give you lower temp on GPU but video playback will freez the OS,Apply and reboot
(7) now you have your beloved giant back, enjoy
PowerMizer Manager is a must, blue screen and random reboot will keep happening if you don't do that. -

hello, i`m new on this forum but have been reading alot of it. I`ve got an acer 6920g t5750, video card hd3650 512 and i want to go for ATI HD 4670 1GB DDR2 MXM type II but i need modded bios. ALL the links are dead so can anyone provide links for modded bios acer6920 please?
now i got bios v.1.16 with EIST locked and SLFM locked as well.I`m using throttle stop.
Off topic: when i had bios v 1.07 i could play warcraft 3- DOTA 1 WITH NO THROTHLLING ISSUES but after the update to 1.16 i have to use throttle stop even for dota 1 and dota 2. Could vbios 1.16 be wrong than 1.07 for acer 6920?
what is the best video card to upgrade my radeon 3650 512mb? -
Hi guys, I've had a few requests for this... don't know if anyone is still looking for it in this thread!! Anyways, it's been uploaded for anyone that requires it.

Hi, what kind of modded bios is suitable for my aspire 7520g? Thanks
-
Wow its more than double what I paid for the FX770 which I'm currently using in my 7720G.
Be aware though I am not 100% sure, so its good to be prepared with your stock BIOS to do a blind flash in case something goes wrong. -
Hi,
Can someone repost the link for 5920g bios? The links on first page aren't working anymore...
Thanks! -
Thank you! Thank you! -
please can you send me the 6920g mxm bios?my mail is [email protected]

I had that hibernation problem since started to use your bios 1.45 BlackEdition 4.0 in my Acer 7720G with 9600m .GT. Windows dont restore from hibernate, it hangs at the windows logo screen. Need to hard reset the laptop. Windows later detect a bad start and presents me a menu, so I can resume last hibernate with no problem.
Still waiting for that 4.1.
Another problem is that since then, my Core2Duo T8300 is locked at full throttle (2.4Ghz), EIST is enabled , C1 states enabled, all downspeed related things are enabled by default, but is still locked.
The weird thing is that I reflashed bios to original Acer 1.45, and the processor is full throttle locked. I remember before, when could go down to 1.6 Ghz. Tried fresh installs of Windows 7, WinXP. but nothing.
Aida64 saids this:
Dynamic FSB Frequency Switching ------------------ Supported, Activated
Enhanced Halt State (C1E) ------------------------------- Supported, Deactivated
Enhanced SpeedStep Technology (EIST, ESS) -- Supported, Activated
Its my first post, but I´m been around here for 2 years. Cheers and thanks to all. -

Hi everyone,
I need a copy of the Acer 6920G 116 MXM rom that is no longer available from the links on the front page, it appears that while upgrading my CPU and reseating the heatsinks the 3650 has had a funny turn and will no longer see the internal LCD.
@ .NetRolller 3D: I can't PM anyone at present as I've only just joined but if you would like I would be happy to host the files listed on the first post on my FTP if that would help you and others
Thanks to anyone who can help -
Hello everybody and congratulations for your so helpful posts. I face the problem noted above, but I don't know exactly what to do, since I am not an expert: I own an Acer 7720g laptop. Its original nvdidia 8400gs vga card broke down after almost 5 years of hard usage. I prurchased and had connected a new 9600gt (MXM II DDR2 1024MB VGA Card G96-630-C1 VG.9PG06.009). The problem is that, as noted above, it shows in the device manager as 'generic' and I cannot install any nvidia driver. In the BIOS (1.45) it shows 0 memory for the vga. I can't download the file 'Aspire 5720(Z)G, 7720(Z)G (InsydeH2O, with unlocked menus and integrated EFI shell, probably fixes external display issues, updated 2011-11-24): http://ifile.it/3wlxm6j/icl50_1.45_black_edition_40.fd' from above. Any suggestions; Thx in advance.

HI Guys
First post so be gentle with me. Does anyone have a live link for the 6920g BIOS? I have swapped a friend's 9500 for the 9600 as the card overheated and died and now am only getting the HMDI output and no internal screen.
I would appreciate either a PM or a reply with a link.
Thanks! -
Hi, i have a bios for the 6920g with the 9600gt video card but has a problem with hdmi output audio, anyone has a fixed bios?
Thanks!!
-
Hiya
I am not that bothered about HDMI audio, any chance of you being able to PM me with the BIOS? -
Hi, I have an Aspire 5920g, I've installed a 9600M GT turned on but now at blank black screen, is it possible to flash the bios with Netrollers mod bios via USB Drive?. Bit of a noob sorry.
-
Jaylee75: Do you get any video output through the HDMI or VGA port on your laptop? If so you can then flash the bios through windows as normal using Winphlash. If you get no image whatsoever then try popping your old card back in and see what happens, the 8600/9600 Nividia chips had the design flaw that meant they could die at almost any point in time so you may have a duff card.
Soyelfruta: If the bios you have is the modded one from the front page I would also like to give it a try, can't be any worse than where I am now -
Hi in this link you can find the Bios I´m using, is the V1.16 modded for the Acer 6920G

sorry but i could´t help you more -
Sadly I am having the same issue. Is anyone able to provide the proper modded v116.rom for the 6920g? -
Hi Soyelfruta, you're help has been most welcome, my lappy has an ATI 3650 mxm (given the 8600/9600 sudden deaths it seemed the better choice) Given the amount of posts about the issue both in this thread and others I'm a little surprised that no one else has replied.
-
Where did you get the ATI from? And what kind of card is it? I'm looking to grab one at the end of November
Sent from my baked potato -
My 6920g came with the Ati 3650 preinstalled if you are looking to upgrade your card then a search for 'Acer MXM' on ebay will throw up a few choices then it's just a case of matching up a card that should work with your laptop. Given how twitchy the bios is though you could end up in the same boat as I'm now in.
-
Hi folks,
After much head scratching I finally found what was up with my laptop, the connector for the screen had come just slightly adrift on the blind side of the board, after prodding it back in with a small screwdriver I am back in business
If you have a similar issue I suggest checking out the little white connector show in the image below, it's a poor design choice putting right where removing the heatsink assembly can dislodge it without you seeing.
Also in other good news I found a copy of the MXM bioses on a Russian site, I will upload them to my FTP shortly meantime the link for them is MXM Modded Bios collection @ Turbobit This contains all of the bios listed on the first post by looks of it plus a set of modded NVidia drivers.

The modification is fairly simple: download from nVidia driver for your video card, run the installation of the first phase of unpacking the driver in the folder C :/ nvidia. When this happens, the installation can be canceled. Now take the modified file (nv_disp.inf) from my nVidia this archive, and replace them in the same folder c :/ nvidia. Hello all.
I got a 8920G with 9500m GS 512Mb Graphic Card (G84-625-A2 chipset) and 7730G with 9600M GT 1Gb (G96-630-C1).
I wanted to put the 9600GT to the 8920G but i got a no picture on internal and external (D-sub) display (but system boots up with characteristic sound).
The 9500GS works fine in 7730G.
I've flashed system BIOS with modded one from this forum named "AS8920G BIOS 1.16 SLIC2.1 VT MOD.rar" from post http://forum.notebookreview.com/ace...nix-bios-bios-mod-request-45.html#post6589201 with succes but still no picture at all.
I've also flashed Video BIOS (trough programmer) with BIOS from here VGA Bios Collection: Acer 9600M GT 1024 MB | techPowerUp but after it I got no picture on both laptops. I've back it up with orginal one to runs at least on 7730G and it's fine for now.
My question is:
What i have to do to run the 9600GT 1Gb on my Acer 8920G? Which files and from where?
It's my first post on this forum but i hope you will help me and provide some answers.
Regards -
