I remember reading that Acer wanted to be the third biggest seller of laptops (unsure of their time frame) but it appears Acer has meets it goals. I heard / read somewhere they (Acer) was number 1 in Canada now.

I think to do this on a short term basis is Marketing and Price and Components. Only quality and service will keep them there be interesting to see.

Yup, they're the #1 vendor in Canada. Acer is probably the most underrated computer company in North America... well at least in the United States. We've been spoon fed with Dells. The whole world knows of Acer; you mention that to some kid off the street here in the US, and they'll be like "Acer? what the heck is that?"

Here in Malaysia, they proudly boast of being "Malaysia's No.1 selling laptop brand." There are posters and billboards along every highway ;)
I was at a major mall today, and they had a huge Acer promotional stand in the centre court, salespeople, nicely laid out stands showing every model. Quite impressive. They price very keenly here, although somewhat lower base specs sometimes, so have definitely got a big market presence.
Hope their support can equal their marketing ;)
