What is up with Acer not selling any high performance CPU notebooks in the US? The last model that came close was the Aspire 6930-6073 that had a P8600 that has been sold out everywhere for months. There were also a few 18" models in the AS8930 series like the T9400 and Q9000 but they are not available also.
I think the only model that is still available has a T6400 CPU. So the question is are they just waiting to introduce new models with the Windows 7 release or are they just targeting middle of the road and low end stuff like Netbooks?

I was also expecting now to hear new Acer laptops with the recent Core i7 mobile processors. Same from other manufacturers like Sony. Maybe they are waiting until Window 7's release.
I hear the Acer 8940 has already been announced, the Core i7 version of the current 8930 series. -
I found it is really slim pickens after an exhausting online search and just coming back from Best Buy and Staples. It seems the better models are sold out and not just Acer laptops.
I bet there is allot of stuff sitting in inventory that the stores cannot sell until 10/12 because of Windows 7. Leave it to Microsoft to mess up retail sales of laptops.
btw - I did find a Acer Travelmate 5730 on Amazon with a P8600 CPU but it has crap Intel video card instead of a decent Nvidia or ATI GPU. -
. I'm also wanting to get a new laptop, but I've resigned myself to waiting until next month. Everyone seems to be holding back until then.

Seems odd though becuase you get a free upgrade to Windows 7. Oh well, one more month.
