I am looking into buying the 120GB version Acer One. Can the hard drive / memory be changed? Wiki says it's a SATA hard drive and DDR II memory... Is this right?

I am not sure, but there is one socket that supports 1GB DDR2-400/533 max. And the 120GB HDD is a SATA HDD....

i may be way off base,, but i think i recall reading that the factory installed memory is built onto the motherboard...

as for the HDD it should be swappable,,, but i'm not sure i'd wanna try that on my new $300 baby!

Aspire One has an On-Board 512MB DDR2-533 module, with one DDR2 slot/socket. I think there was a review on NBR for the Aspire One. That will be worth checking out.

It has one slot open for up to 1GB DDR2, there is 512MB soldered onboard as well which can't be removed.

The HDD uses standard 2.5" SATA, which is easily replaced once you have the system apart.

I've already installed the additional 1GB memory (total 1.5GB) and upgraded the hard disk to 320GB.

I just got done installing a WD 320GB hard drive and swapped the 512MB to 1GB memory stick. The install wasn't that bad, just need to be patient.

Matter of fact I snapped a few pics..
