I don't know if this has been done yet, but I have managed to install the orbicam using logitech software instead of acer. I am still trying to figure out if i can speed up the camera while still MAINTAINING low light boost!
Ill keep this thread updated
-
Unless you live in a cave, just turn on a light and adjust the brightness in the Orbicam options, and you should be fine
-
Set gain and shutter speed manually.
-
edit:
nvm its in driver settings -
-
I've just downloaded and installed the Logitech Imagestudio, Gallery and drivers on my 5672. It recognizes the camera as an Acer Orbicam. The Logitech Camera Controls and Driver Settings are more configurable that the Acer ones.
-
What model of camera do I pick from the Logitech website?
-
I have installed the latest logitech qc1050 software on my 8204 with Vista RTM. It seems to work fine and detects the cam as a AcerOrbicam. I have not played with it too much but the cam works on yahoo messenger and did not before with the Vista drivers for the orbicam. The download link for the logitech software is here
http://www.logitech.com/pub/techsupport/quickcam/qc1050enu.exe -
this logictech driver did not work for my acer orbicam on my aspire 5630
-
I got the orbicam to work on my Acer 5635, so the below should also work on the 5630.
Download Orbicam drivers - Logitech Camera Driver 9.4.4.1084a
http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/notebook/as_5620_5670.html
Also download Logitech Image Studio
http://www.logitech.com/pub/techsupport/quickcam/is730enu.exe
Install the driver first and then Image Studio.
To get the camera working, as inidcated in another thread ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=71035&page=3)
You will need to do a search and replace all on the lv321.inf file (in CCD.zip) in notepad to get Image Studio to work
Edit, Replace
Find what: 0892
Replace with: 0896
good luck. -
first off let me say VISTA IS THE DEVIL!
so when i got my aspire 9300 i felt the need for XP!
the only problem i had in downgrading is the orbicam. if anyone else has downgraded as well i am curious to know if they you have lost resolution as well. it had an extremely clear image then after the downgrade its kinda fuzzy.
i wonder if the previously mentioned software from logtech will fix this issue. im downloading now...ill update this thread as soon as i figure it out.
any suggestions to fix this fuzz issue? -
my laptop had vista and i downgraded to xp and yes, i think the resolution was better in vista but have no idea how to fix it.
-
installed new drivers for the orbicam there fine.
Reinstalled the hardware thats fine.
When I try and use the cam it ccmes up
camera in use by another program.
I have nothing or can find what is using it.
Any help or info would be appreciate
thanks -

anyone know how to get the visageOn feature back?! -
For those still wondering how to get your Acer OrbiCam - Logitech to work, I have searched the world over with far too many times failing to get my Aspire 5670 to recognize and work with its built-in webcam. But recently I was fortunate enough to finally find out that installing the latest drivers didnt work at all whereas a particular old one worked well both on XP and Vista OS.
You should go to this link:
http://www.driverstock.com/Acer-Aspire-5670-driver-download/4-21-12877-94131/index.html
Download the zip file then save all contents in a folder that you will browse to use later.
Do not use the setup.exe from that folder. It wont work Just go to Device Manager and Uninstall your current driver of Acer OrbiCam. Then click, Update Driver, and point to the folder of those unzip files. Let it install then restart your computer.
When the computer restarts go to Skype or any communication/camera software youre using and set the video camera. Voila, this time you will see the video coming on to the screen after about 10-15 seconds of black screen.
I have to thank that site for the download.
Last but not least, please remember that this one driver (version 9.4.0.1120) works very well on both XP and Vista You dont need to update it to any other higher version!
As for other Acer Aspire models, just check other pages from that website I have no way of knowing since I only have my model. But I think you will be able to make use of your OrbiCam once again.
Best of Luck and Enjoy Video Chatting!

PS I think if you get only that driver file (version 9.4.0.1120) from the link after unzipping, please see whether putting only that driver in a new folder and install in Device Manager will get your camera to work too. If so, it will be nice for you to just upload that driver file and paste your link here so that others can just download this file and not all others from the link above.
