Hello!
Owners of this laptop, I need your help in a question.
Is it normal for this laptop to drain the battery during gaming until 30%? Game was running fine. but when I quit the CPU core ratio dropped to x29 and stayewd there until it charged back to 40%.
is this normal for this laptop ?
Just asking because I have an unlocked Insyde BIOS+I have increased the default 170W TDP of the GTX 1080 to 200W and I am wondering that one of these is causing this or even with the locked factory BIOS the CPU will drop when reaching 30% (even on AC power) and remain there until 40 %?

Yes, normal even on stock TDP levels although as you have noticed you're compounding the battery drain by upping the TDP limit. My Acer Nitro 5 will drain to about 80% if I game for several hours, but then charges right back up when I'm done. In combination with the AC adapter, the laptop can achieve a higher overall wattage using the battery as well. I believe 30-40% is the limit designated by Acer where it will stop using pwoer and begin recharging to protect the battery. Performance will be limited until the recharge finishes.

Oh well, I was able to fix the battery drain problem by just flashing back the old vbios with 170W tdp limit. The extra 30W this way is enough for the laptop to function without needing to touch the battery during gaming.
Moral of the story: do not increase the vga to 200W, expesially when the laptop's DC input is limited to 260W power intake
(Yes, it has 330W power brick, but the DC input only can take 260W)
