I have an Acer 6930 G. I had accidentally installed the French Vista (stupid me) and the store gave me the 2 backup DVDs I needed in order to install the English one (they had a previous customer with the same problem). So on the Acer screen, I pressed Alt-F10. I choose restore using user's backup and insert my DVD. Under Source Drive, I choose "Recovery1:Z" which is the name of my 1st recovery disk. Under Backup Point, I cannot choose anything and thus, I cannot hit the next button. I tried enabling F12, and putting USB CD ROM as first priority (didn't make sense but worth a try) and I require further assistance. Thank you in advance.

Alt-F10 is for restore by the hidden partition , no CDs needed .

    Read the manual .

Use the Alt-F10 only ....... Read the first link on my signature ... if your system comes with NTFS in the primary partition .. just read the rest part and forget the warnings about NTFS .

Also skip the boot record info ... your Alt-F10 works all ready .

I want to double check with you to make sure I understand your guide. I am to head into BIOS (Using F12? Or is it that F2 function?), and select the first boot device the DVD Drive (Which I am partially stuck on; a few of them have USB CD/DVD and one has CD-Rom in the name, I believe). After saving these changes, the laptop will reboot again, in which eRecovery should start without Alt-F10, in which I should choose to restore to Factory Defaults, which will then wipe out my C: drive of files and install from the DVD Drive?

Sorry in advance if I got everything misunderstood. I am a slow learner. I read your first post in your link-Erecovery Basics.

Forget about the DVDs ... forget them .

Power on , and press Alt-F10 ... the system will boot from a hidden Hard drive space , and it will repair it self .

The recovery with DVDs , destroys the above hidden function .
    For ever .

I understand what you are saying, only that if I do so, it will install the French version; the English recovery is in the DVDs.

The Alt-F10 will install the original OS .... the French Vista was you option not the original OS , thats came from your own words not my .

There is no warranty that your disks will fix the system .

Are those CDs original ACER ones or just a copy ?

If they are original post the special code on them to get more help .

If they are copys , go back to the shop , and ask them to do the job for you.
