How long does Acer usually take to fix laptops and have them sent back? I sent my 8204 in with a broken fan, and I got the email that said it was received Tuesday morning. I wish they would send it back before the weekend but that's not looking like a possibility. I sent it to the Temple, Texas facility.

They've been nice so far, I hope they fix my problem instead of creating new ones.

No it is not. I personally own ACER now.
It has a very good price-performance balance. Very Good on mid-range laptops like the aspire 5672,5112.

But, few things we need to know about acer's mid-range/low-end products.
    It's CHEAP, build quality's so-so, and customer service's sucks.

I tried to call acer technical support 2-3 times for my laptop's warranty issue, no one picked up (ACER end-user customer service). I even waited for about 17 minutes on loud speaker. NO ONE picked up. I called few times. Still, no answer.
The last time i called, it said that average waiting time is 70 MINUTES.
I think they need to add their staff.
    I'll try again.

This is not that i say "don't buy acer". No.
I give you the fact that i think, Acer's midrange products are good deals. But there's also some minus behind it.
So if money is not your issue, get an ASUS or high-end ACER. :D
If best customer service is what you want, then buy a $$Dell$$.

I have limited budget for this so i chose ACER. It's a good choice and i'm satisfied with the machine and price :) (not the build quality, and customer service :( )

Hmm... I called Acer and they answered my call in about 10 minutes, and the guy was very friendly and didn't treat me like an idiot. Before I called I did email them about my problem... they responded in about 4 days and apologized for the delay in their response.

I am pretty upset that my 5 month old 2000 dollar laptop's fan broke. Hopefully this computer lasts at least 4 or 5 years. I got a IBM Thinkpad R41in 2002, and its still working... and the only problem with it I had was that the backlight on the screen broke cause I dropped it off a desk. I took it to school every single day for all 4 years of high school... its been stepped on, kicked, dropped, etc. I can't beleive how well build that laptop was...

I just got the email from Acer saying it was shipped back. They received my computer on Tuesday and today is Friday, so it was 3 days to fix my broken fan.... not too bad I guess.

The same derrible story already takes place at Greece. No official service store (only representatives) and the nearest service place is at ITALY. Can you believe that?
