I've found that the sound on acer is fine, but very low. If you max it out with using Fn + the up arrow key and/or the volume control on the computer it still is low. Why is that? Is there a manual switch or control on the notebook somewhere that I am missing?

Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Volume Control

See if Wave volume is cranked up to its highest; if it isn't bring it up. Additionally, you should be able to increase the db using the audio driver config (At least I can, I have an 5102).
