I've had an e-mail saying that I should contact DHL for a courier service and send my laptop in for repairs. I'm sure I've heard people complain about the quality of Acer's repair service and the last thing I want is for them to do more harm than good..! Has anyone put their laptop through this process and has it come back in one piece? I have a feeling that I'll get my laptop back and there will be a rattle because one of the components has been left unscrewed or something :S (lol).

On a related point, what's the best way to package my laptop so it can be safely transported by DHL, who probably toss things around?

I am a bit  here. Did Acer contact you and tell you to send your lappie in for repairs or did you contact them about a problem with your lappie?
And now you must arrange for DHL to collect it.

What is wrong with your lappie BTW?

Anyways, the best way to send it is in its original packaging and box. Just be sure to request that they return it too in its original packing that you sent it with.

    Cheers,
    Theo

I emailed them about my problem, and they just copy+pasted a guide on how to send it in for repairs, without really trying to diagnose what could be wrong. They told me to arrange a collection with DHL using their unique business code etc.

I suspect there is a faulty HDD (laptop makes weird noises at random intervals, and I don't want to keep letting this happen until something eventually dies outside of my warranty).

Whilst I want my laptop to be checked, I'm a little hesitant in sending it via post and was hoping somebody could reassure me about the whole process or perhaps the quality of the repair service?

I cannot speak for Acer globally. All I do know is that Acer South Africa rocks. Service backup is second to none.

These guys know what they are doing.

    Cheers,
