I have long been waiting for the release of Acer TM 8204 in the UK. I really love this laptop, but the price of about £1650 is apparently too much for a mid-end user like me.
But I noticed ASUS A6JA (from www.asusnotebooks.co.uk) has the similar spec but much lower price (£1135) which seems to be an alternate solution for me.
A6Ja - Q002H
- 15.4" TFT(WXGA, Colour-Shine)
- Intel Yonah Dual Core T2300 1.66G
- Video Camera Built-in(1.3 M Pixel)
- ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 256MB [512MB Hyper Memory]
- 1024MB [512x2]
- 100GB HDD
- DVD Super Multi Double Layer
- Intel3945ABG WLAN
- Built in Bluetooth
- WinXP Home
The slower CPU, lower resolution of the WXGA screen (1280x800), and the slightly shorter battery life are the major shortcomings compared with Acer TM 8204. But, apart from these it is really a great piece of work from ASUS with absolutely good value for money. What do you guys think?

That is very good value for money and you should buy this instead.
However you say you are a mind-end user - so why do u want a high end laptop? You could save £££s if you get something lower spec. -
That does seem like a great deal. Does anyone know if the A6JA will be available in the US? I did a Google/Froogle search and couldn't find it.
Thanks,

I don't think it is avaliable in USA. I might be wrong

Victorlee, go for the Acer 8202, has 1gb ram, 100gb HD, 1.86 cpu, WSXGA+ screen, and i don't know the price in the UK, but in the US the price is 2000... and using the currency exchange it would be about 1111pounds + premium...
This way u get the ACer laptop you want, but with lower specs which is equivalent the the ASUS A6ja.
Thanks,
