i have an acer travelmate 2480 with realtek soundcard. i have the problem that the sound is from the internal speaker is ok when no headphone is plugged in. but when the headphone jack is plugged in, there is no sound. (headphone is not the problem, happens with many headphones). also installing different realtek software drivers doesn't make a difference.

now i know from other forums that the solution is to put the laptop on standby and then turn it on again. this worked for a long time. in the beginning i only had to leave it on standby for a few seconds, now i have to leave it on standby for about 10 minutes!! very irritating from acer, i wish i could get it fixed. it is definitely not a hardware problem because i get it working in the end...

only today, few times tried the standby trick, but nothing....i'm at a loss. i want to be able to use my headphones. anyone has a permanenent solution yet?? anyone took the trouble to call acer?? what did they say? i'm afraid calling them is a waste of time....

i need help!! this standby trick is starting to irritate me!!

    thinking out load again :)

is windows shutting the sound card down to save on power ?
or you could just have a dodgy connection on the board ?
if its still under warranty send it back.
