Wanted to poll any owners out there about the effective battery life of this laptop before I take the plunge. Seen differing reports, ranging from Chazman's "just over 3 hrs doing absolutely nothing" to someone getting 4 hours from theirs.

Really, I'm curious as to how long I could expect to use the laptop before the battery drains doing two things:

    Word processor usage
    Watching DVDs

Any assistance would be most appreciated!

My review was on the TM4402 - is that what you meant? Link is in my signature. ;)

While word processing, expect 2:45 +/-10 minutes (on the TM4402), and watching a movie...I'd say 2:15 - 2:30 - less because the optical drive spinning will cause more of a power drain. If you rip the DVD to the hard drive and then play it from there, You'll get 2:30, maybe a little more.

There are variables - screen brightness, wireless on, etc, so keep those in mind.

Thanks Chaz. Those are the kinds of things I'm looking for. I ready your review, and wanted to hear some people's experiences with battery life. Some fellow on another forum mentioned getting 4 hrs life from his battery! Figured this was the place to ask...

Yeah - I'm not sure how they managed that. Acer doesn't even rate it to four hours! They rate it for three to three and a half hours.

He must have turned the screen off lol! :p
