well...it would be better to have a 64-bit processor...like the ferrari does..and it would be easier to upgrade to windows vista..but then again..u already would have windows XP 64...so i'm not too sure

I have owned a 8104 for several months now - works great. Only complaints are screen is only WSXGA (Compared to say a Dell 9300) - Battery life is OK (little over 3 hours) - Power cord plugs into right hand side (would have been better in the back)

Speed / resposiveness / stabilty are good. I run several apps and so far it has been great. Reformated / Partioned HD to my Liking. I run mostly work type applications - but also some Video Editing (Pinnacle Studio Version 9 / Jasc Paint Shop Pro 9 )

I almost bought a Ferrari 3200 (32bit vs 64 bit) - my rationalle was by the time 64bit becomes True Mainstream (meaning all the applcaitions I use are ported) , it will be time to buy a new Laptop.

So my suggestion is , if 64bit capabilites is your main concern for the Ferrari (who knows may be able to dual boot the next Mac os in it )

Otherwise I can tell you I am happy with 8104.

Hmm, I think the Ferrari is overpriced, and you can get a similar notebook with higher specs for the same amount of money.

Like already posted, if XP X64 isnt the main reason for buying the notebook, I would just go with the 8100. It is a better notebook for the money, in my opinion.

Yeah, I think you pay about a $200-$300 overhead for the Ferrari logo :(, what a ripoff.

but i heard that they are very similar if you compare performance now i don't know what to buy becouse of memory type (ddr2 in TM vs ddr in ferrari) i will use it for cad apps and some times games like far cry and to play movies with projector but main thing is that it must be a full desktop replacement

Fan Noise is ok noticible in a sound proof romm or at 03:00 am ... but with 2 kids , dog , TV's and various music boxes I never notice ....

Gets a little warm sometimes - hot air blowing out the left hand vents - but both of these (fan noise and heat) pail in comaparison to my old Dell C800 which you could blow dty you hair on and sounds like a jet engine taking off when the fan(s) kick in.

Fan runs more so on Battery if I am stressing the machine (video / dvd / etc) , otherwise for regualr work type stuff ....rearley comes on

Same with my Acer TravelMate. The fan is quite noisy, and easily noticable in a quiet room, but, I also have 2 kids, dog, cat, tv, and only then is it barely noticable.

I wonder why Acer doesnt use bigger fans - that would mean slower RPMs and less noise, plus better heat dissapation.

My hp Pavilion zv5000 has a DTR processor, but it has a much larger fan, and I hardly hear it.

    Makes one wonder...
