    sorry lazy to translate
according to the spec shown above, do you consider it worthy? (840.625US$) (compared to the price of 3810t in NA)

o...yeah, btw, there is an intel X25-M 80GB version of 3810t sold in TW as well, (spec should be the same as shown above)
it costs 903US$ (I am shocked, tha's cheap!! I have no idea how acer gets such low price from intel)
ps. the commercial says that it can last 12Hrs!!!

only if it had SU9400 and have HD 4330, I would immediately get one

i think 840$ is too much,if battery life isn't your only concern ,you can buy a 14' with a better cpu and gpu.

with intel x25 , i think 903$ is a nice price. ssd 's are really expensive.

i wonder what will ati radeon+su9400 version will cost?

    I don't know yet,
I am still looking for a laptop that fit my need (but so far, timeline is best choice)
but that intel X25-M 80G version of 3810t looks nice (but no SU9400 and ATI 4330 that are the things I want)

at that price range , i think there are lots of alternatives. only advantage of the platform will be battery life(ati and su9400 will also cut from the battery life a bit).for example Dell 14z is not a lot thicker than this, and way more powerful .

if you don't need the notebook immediately, other companies also have their culv platforms on the way.

If HD content from Hulu and Youtube are such a big concern, you could ask in the Sony Vaio TT thread of this forum. They have basically the same configuration (SU9300 or SU9400, X4500MHD, DDR3 RAM).

EDIT: Or Thinkpad X301, or Samsung X360...

Youtube HD and Hulu are no problem for SU9300 and SU9400.

It's the single core CPUs that seem to have problems.

TG = have dedicated graphics card. T = intergrated card (I think)

    4810TG has two version (SU3500 and SU9400)
    SU 3500: 965US$
    SU 9400: 1200US$

4810T (only have SU 3500 version)
    SU 3500: 903us$

3810T has various versions (the one I know is SU 3500 and Celeren 723 (1.2GH))
    SU 3500: 840US$
    Celeren 723: 778US$
    SU 3500 with 80G Intel X25-M: 903US$

Those price and items are listed on yahoo Taiwan's shopping center.
ps. some people said that there are 3810T with SU9400 sold in Japan. But I don't see it myself, so I am not sure.

Thank you so much for reliable info EXACTLY describing my problem. Only I have 5810T. I checked any BIOS updates and there were indeed 4 updates within a month.

I did update to a newest one (almost had a heart attack during that procedure ;).
Well anyways, do you have any update regarding this issue? Is latest BIOS enough? Well if not, my laptop will freeze within an hour and then I'll know.

Oh and one last thing, which Acer software is needed to uninstall in order for lnotebook to be stable again?

Please reply as this is making my brand new notebook less enjoyable, even though everything else is cool (design, keyboard oh and I LOVE new scrolling, I read somebody stating its no good, but once I bought it I fell in love with it immediately)

um, one guy suggest that don't install ANY acer software (except dvd-rom power saving software<===I have no idea) and update all drivers to newest

    hope that help,
if not, just hope there will be a new bios or
wait for some other NA timeline users to help you :)

Hi, I'm considering moving into 3810T with SU9400/4500MHD from my current setup in my sig.
Will this be considered an upgrade or downgrade?
Current setup has been able to satisfy me for the last 3 years except some hiccup with 1080p playback and broken left hinge with the right coming soon.
The only doubt I have will it be bottleneck at any point? Is it worth it?
Since at its price point, I can get Acer Aspire 4937G with p8400, 2GB ddr3, G105M but that thing is thick.

    Any reply are welcomed.

3810 is an upgrade. 3810 advantages:

    • 10W TDP vs 31W TDP of the T2250
    • GMA 4500 chipset runs cooler and is a better performer than the 950
    • 800MHz FSB faster than 533MHz FSB in T2250
    • 45nm is cooler better than 65nm in T2250
    • DDR3 ram is better
    • SU9400 has virtualization, T2250 does not

The only thing is the SU9400 is 1.4GHz vs the T2250 being 1.73GHz, but the other improvements like the efficiency of the Core 2 Duo vs a Core Duo should make up for it.

The SU9400 is more powerful than the T2250. So yeah it's an upgrade. (like evilid said)

I'm not sure, I'm just reporting what other people are reporting.

It makes sense though, my CPU is similar to SU3500 and get 95% CPU load with YoutubeHD.

    U9400 gets 934, same CPU as SU9400.

    Hello,

Interesting reviews from all of you!
Does anybody has an idea whether the 5810T-944 C2D will also be released with the ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4330 or only the 4810T?

I am still a bit in doubt about the performance although according to the reviews the C2D seems to be fine. My requirments for working are the use of MS Office programs (also in parallel) or watching xvid (and smiliar formats) videos or do simple photo editing tasks. Do you agree that the C2D should work fine with those tasks without being running out of power?

Did somebody actually tested Google Earth and the speed of setting up 3D buildings?

    Cheers,
    JP

    Finally my first Post here!
Im having my 3810T since 2 Weeks.
My first testings with the SU3500 so far:

    WEI:
    CPU 3.6
    Ram 5.0
    Gpu 3.2
    Gpu(Gaming) 3.3
    HDD 5.6

    Passmark CPU: 499.3
Passmark Score with 1GB Ramdisk(swapfile +temp): 441.1 incl virtual CD

Fillrate Bench FrameBuffer Clear : 566 FPS ? thats lower than my
    GMA X3100 ( 870FPS)
Note: before I ve installed the Ramdisk and updated the VGA-Driver
I reached 780 Fps (without changing 3d Mark Scores?)

    3d mark 06: 614
    3d mark 03: 1714
    3d mark 01: @4k with HW TnL
    and @4600 with SW TnL

    Tested Games:
    Counter-Strike Source:
    about 51Fps in its Bench, but @17fps in de_dust (1366x768 incl. Fps-config)

    Morrowind:
between 8 and 17 Fps on 640x480? wow

    Half-Life Portal:
runs quite good at about 34Fps on everything low (except the high Textures)

    Left 4 dead:
with a tweaked config between 18 and 11Fps (incl. Horde)

SW Republic Commando: Same as Portal

Halo: playable indoors ,but i had trouble on the silent Cartograph Island.

    Tested with Fraps, net_graph

Vista runs much faster with a Ramdisk for the Temp and the Swapfile :D

[Adobe and Nvidia are working for GPU-Acceleration on Flash, so Single-Core-user had just to wait a lil bit]
And for the Record: my english is horrible :D

The Core of the GMA x4500 is downclocked.By overclocking the Cpu the Gpu will also reach a higher Core-clock ! Last week Ive read something about, that the FSB on the GS45 chipset can be set by a Jumper?
    http://download.intel.com/design/chipsets/embedded/320503.pdf
    look at: 3.6.21 Clocks
But I m not knowing if the Jumper is on that Mainboard anymore

    stock FSB (mine 780mhz) ----> GPU @ 320mhz
    reaching a FSB of 1066mhz ----> GPU @ 533mhz --> CPU@ 1866mhz
But i dont know if this Single Core CPU can reach such a Clock with its Stock Voltage (0.900V)?

btw: BF2142 can be in played in Singleplayer on low >25Fps (except Textures)

No1R, have you heard of SetFSB? It's software that can raise the FSB, if you know what clock generator the 3810T/4810T has.

I found the clockgen for an Acer 751 by searching with Google.

    yes i know.
Ive tried all, to show that Setfsb is in its current version useless.
Finding the right Plls seems difficult atm.
There are not many reviews about the Timeline series so far.
Not many people are willing to open their new Timeline.

And we didnt know if we had to change Jumpers anywhere.
Since my posted doc is showing that a jumper can override the FSB settings,
we only had to change these jumpers (?)
