    Hi all,

First of all, I am glad to have joined these forums and this is my first post. :D

    Secondly, the issue:

    My specs:
    Notebook: Acer 5810TG, 15.6"
    BIOS: 1.12
    OS: Vista Home Premium 32bits
    CPU: SU9400
    GPU: ATi HD4330 512MB GDDR3 + Intel 4500HD
    RAM: 4GB DDR3 @ 1066
    HDD: 320GB HDD @ 5400RPM

    My issue:
Every time the laptop tries to go into sleep mode, either automatically or manually, it reboots and the "Windows Error Recovery" screen pops-up telling me that the system was improperly shut down.

Even Shutting Down the laptop gets me this error.
Hibernate and Restart seem to work normally though...

Anyone with ideas to this annoying issue?
Also, the screen sometimes goes blank when booting in Vista, though I presume this is related to the way it switches between the 2 GPUs.

NOTE1: I didn't install any extra apps... just what it came with.
    NOTE2: I am a power-user, so feel free to go technical. ;)

Stick in a Vista disc and repair?

I don't see how Vista, or any OS for that matter, can be related to the PC booting back up after shut down all by itself.

    You might have faulty hardware.

Download the latest BIOS and see if that helps. Reset the BIOS to default values.

Run the memory test. You can get to that by pressing F2 or F8 during boot.

Take a look at the event log. Right-click 'My Computer', Manage, Event Viewer, System or Application. Look for hardware errors or other messages that look promising.

Try to boot into safe mode and see if that helps.

Upgrade your device drivers to the latest version.

Return the laptop for another, this should not happen.

Most likely it is driver fault.
As you know your system is running hybrid graphics.
And Hybrid Graphics is rather problematic on Vista.
A good suggestion is to update graphics drivers.(Try Laptopvideo2go.com)
Check the Event Viewer to id the module that caused the crash.

Thx for the feedback guys! :)

I'll update the GPU driver first and if that doesn't work then the BIOS.
Oh, and Event Viewer didn't turn out anything noteworthy.

    Update:

I can't find any newer GPU drivers for this and flashing the BIOS didn't help. :(
Also, according to Acer, I have the latest drivers for everything.

Try switching to Intel Graphics then sleep then switch to ATi Graphics then sleep.
    See which causes the issue.
Note: you have 2 graphics driver

    Tried that already.

I've reinstalled both GPU drivers, but I'm still getting the issue...
