    Hi guys

thinking about buying this laptop, but i got a question if anyone can please help me get an answer.

if i change HDD and then do a Windows 7 Ultimate reinstall, is the button to switch between ATI and Intel on board graphics card button still going to work?

    Thanks again.

My guess would be an embedded controller, like Acer does for the fan control. Could be bios controled as well. I never looked at it carefully.

Hi, sorry to bump this old thread, but I just got my 5820TG yesterday, installed Acer's VGA drivers, then installed ATi 10.12 driver; at no point (before VGA driver, after VGA driver, after ATi driver) was I able to make the switch button work.

Is there any trick to it?

Not sure if you are aware, but the 'P' button does not work when the laptop is plugged in.

If it doesn't work when on battery, then you have a problem.

I ended up creating hotkeys in the ATI Catalyst Control Center to switch the graphics for ease of toggling when plugged in.

I just use the icon in the tray to switch. Easy enough.

In the Catalyst Control Center, click on Options at the top right, then Preferences, then Enable System Tray Menu, assuming you are using the Advanced settings.

    Nice tip, thanks.

But how to do when I'm with Intel and want to change to ATI? Didn't find any option on the Intel Manager to set hot keys...

    On the ATI is set.

At least for me, I was able to set hotkeys for both directions using the ATI Catalyst Control Center (and they work regardless of the current graphics mode). Here's what it shows in my Hotkeys Manager:

Each of the "Hotkey Actions" is the mode that is being switched to when the hotkey is activated.
