I guess the Aerofoil has its purpose as it doesn't meassure battery thus saving battery, ironic?

At the end of the day, your battery won't last longer just 'cus you keep watching it :)

I can't really comment on the use of system resources for any of the programs though.

Anyone here know if a 3820T screen(the entire top part) would work in a 3820TG ?

    Hi,
    I consider these useful:
I am not sure about the backup manager.
Arcade is your media playback software, and eRecovery is needed to create the set of recovery discs.

I was just checking this. I am planning a clean install I want to replace win basic 64 bit with win ultimate 32 bit

Could I create this disk as iso in alcohol or such programs for later use from a usb driver or an externall hdd as boot disc ?

I assume by 'usb driver' you mean a flash drive, so yes, of course you can install w7 using a usb drive its the best way to do it. Download the usb boot tool for ms site. Im not clear though as to what you are actually asking in that second paragraph. You dont create the iso and you dont need to be booting from a extrnl hd, but im not sure what any of this has to do with burning a cd, you need choose an option.

Weird, I went to several large electronic stores here in Hong Kong and it seems like the HD5470 models have been sold out...and one store had HD5650 configuration but not yet in stock. In that case, I'll go for the i5-460M with the HD5650 :)

BatteryCare is ugly regarding use of system resources, haven't tried Aerofoil yet, but it looks promising.

so I've had this laptop for about a month now (i3-370m ati 5650) and I was just wondering if someone could help me with some issues I've had with the laptop; just small issues nothing extreme. When I'm at home I take out the battery and use it plugged in with high performance settings. And if I take the laptop to school (power saver or balanced mode) and have it run on battery, the power option settings for the ati card is changed to maximize battery life, but when I take it home after and plug it in, the settings don't revert back to maximize performance and I have to change it again. Also after plugging it in, my windows 7 gadgets get moved around as well as some of my start up windows that open. Any helpful comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

    1) Thanks for reply ! Ok win can be installed via USB good ! But I don't have win disc ? Where will I find a win to put in USB stick ?

    2) The part you did not understand is creating Factory Disc by using erecovery utility from acer. When you try it, it requests a DVD to burn but since 3820tg does not have DVD RW, it cant be done. My question was, could I create a factory disc without having DVD RW but using virtual driver and disc utilities...

    1. There's a thread on NBR that has the legal link to download Windows image
    2. Use Phantom Drive
launch manager, to control the shortcut key and OSD...

    1. Well I dont want to encourage any pirating activities on this forum, but thats how most people do it. MS will give you the iso though but as 3820 comes with W764bit im not sure theyll give you the 32bit iso.

2.Ok, well I assume youre going to need a external dvd drive for that. Again though if you get the iso on a usb drive you dont need to do any of that. The USB must be blank and formatted though to boot from, but its the fastest way to do it.

Guys i need some help, some of you may remember me posting my problem a while ago that my 3820tg hard freezes while playing multiplayer games over wifi (hard reset needed each time). Doesnt matter which ones they all eventually do freeze. Some of you came to the concussion that it might be hardware issue however as i pointed out all single player games work perfectly even with high o/c.

So i got myself a Lan cable in order to find out if its wifi that is causing the problem. To my surprise it is not, same thing happens with over lan cable connection. I've got latest drivers installed for all of them.

So from this test do you guys agree that its 100% software issue ? Smtng worng with my Win7 ultimate 64? May it be norton internet security 2010 that is causing it ?

    Any ideas ?

    Thank u :)

How does it not working with the Ethernet Cable as well as the Wifi drives to the conclusion of being a software issue?

well because wifi and ethernet are separate modules and it seems quite unlikely to me that they both cause the same issue. I might be wrong but im stuck in here and i wanna play multiplayer games sometimse :(

    Acer 3820TG no thanks!
I'm sending this headache back to the store.
Acer and AMD just lost another customer.
I got it for $620 and now I know why.
Sell them out quick before user reviews flood the internet.
Thanks guys, for all the info and good luck!

Just give us links to playable demo versions of the games and we can try them on your laptops.

But without game titles it is very useless.

Right i know what it is now, finally after like 3 weeks. I disabled Realtek Audio and went multiplay with high o/c no more freezes! Um i do have latest driver i believe. I've noticed that when i do play or play music i get light skips (half a sec) and when i got freezes online gaming it was still sound. Any recommendations on a driver? and where can i get some old good one..

Well, if the computer freezes even with the stock drivers, it might just be a faulty sound card. Do Realtek have a forum or something? Maybe some other people are experiencing similar issues?
Also somebody would probably tell you to try and disable as much software as possible (norton etc.) to make absolutely sure that it isn't a software problem. You might even wanna think about doing a clean install, if you haven't already tried it?

    Thanks

You mean System complete back-up done by acer backup utility or Factory Default Disc done by acer erecovery ? I try to create a factory default disc image. My only problem is to mount a virtual blank dvd in virtual driver used by alcohol 52 FE because I never want to own an external dvd writer. I already got system backup to external hdd but I want fac default disc too...

That step is only for those who will need to reinstall the factory image (like sending the unit for warranty work). You can skip it.

I guess I need to upgrade my 3 gigs ram which really seem not to be enough... do you think 2x2 will suffice or 3x2 should be the way to go (I guess 4x2 are way too much and expensive) ? And what should be the frequency 1066 V 1333? Any shopping recommendations in europe for ram ?

Those in the photos below seem to be the memory modules in my unit. I dont have idea of hardware much... Maybe I should just sell the 1 gb one with samsung brand and get only another 2gb module

    Guys,

I've noticed that the usable memory on my 3820TG differs from the actual memory. Now this is understandable if I'm on the Intel graphics, but I'm currently on the ATI discrete. Google search has left me blank, and who better to ask then fellow 3820TG'ers.

I'm on a clean Win7 Pro 64bit install, and can't recall what was displayed on the original Acer image. Can anyone confirm that this is correct? Pic attached.

As far as I know the intel graphics is always on...I think its on the CPU so that will always be used....there seems to be a price drop in RAM...saw 8GB for €127 on crucial.com....is crucial RAM good?

I have never really done any gaming on my 3820TG since it's a work unit (they frown upon loading games on our units) but I had to see how MOH ran on my new I3. OMG is all I can say. I can't believe how well this little I3 handles MOH. I normally play MOH on my desktop I7-930/HD 5870 (Asus factory OC'd) and the Acer plays the game just as smoothly. The 3D graphics are incredible as well. The display really handles its own.

I have noticed that a lot of the stores are now OUT (maybe completely) of the HD5470 models and only selling the 3820T...I want to get the 5650 but now sure if it will be carried by the larger stores here in HK.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I just received my 3820TG from PChome. I am looking to do a clean install of English Windows 7. Does anybody have links to the instructions on how this can be done using a USB key. I assume it's in this thread somewhere, but searching through a 700+ page thread is not easy. Also, are there instructions on creating the recovery CD for Chinese windows?

Should the bluetooth already be enabled the first time? When I start the program it only launches a self terminating DOS-window. I don't know where I can find the settings that you're showing in the pdf file?
