At the moment no.
Or you are using a game/software, which one block the switch and an error message is displayed. "It was impossible to switch the grafikcard."

the both "none glare" screens should work but they are the bad ones.
The model from LG has only a contrast from 300:1 and the second is from AUO again. The company AUO is known for cheap display's with poor quality.
I'm looking for the better display from LG with 500:1 or the Samsung display. -
I'm really having trouble finding info on replacing a display. If the resolution, size, and pin-connector match, will the new lcd work?
Or does every laptop series/brand have its own propietary connector? -
From a test posted in the 4820tg review thread, it looks like the i5 model might have sufficient cooling.
Next month I'm going to get it, and go gung ho on testing for 5 days. If it withstands the tests, I'll be happy to have it! If not, more praying for a 3820tg. -
Just a question, what wireless speeds are you guys getting with Broadcom (maybe everyone has?). In mbits please. Me? Not over 70mbits... 30 cm from router. Router or wireless card problem? I dont know but router is supposed to be better... ;<. D-link Dir-600 router.

Here it is:
YouTube - Installing ClearCal Anti-Glare Film for Glossy Displays
Not Viewguard but should be the same process.

Its more difficult with the 3820 though, you dont have as much space with the frame surrounding the screen. Didnt use tape for mine, but sounds like a good idea. Also I really recommend using a !fresh! anti-static cleaning cloth, thats where i failed a bit
-
My problem remains though. I'm almost certain that this noise somehow comes from the hard drive because the noise is louder while the hard drive is working a lot; at boot-ups, starting applications etc. I also hear this sound while playing music, but only a little bit and while having low volume. I have only yet heard this with headset, and can't really tell if it's the same thing with the speakers.
---
I have now also successfully installed my new Momentus XT with W7 Enterprise. I tricked Acer eRecovery with an application called Virtual CD (demo available for free) and made a backup of the drivers and applications. Then I installed W7 and the drivers with a USB-stick. Thanks liath for Virutal CD! -
Any idea when the 3820TG and/or 4820TG will be available in the US?
-
Bronsky
Hey Insider, we'd be hearing from you if you saw any 3820TG's coming with the 5650 right? -
If the Acer sales and marketing guys can`t figure out that back to school is the perfect time to sell a value based laptop, with gaming potential, then they`re not half as smart as they think they are!
-
I have done some research of my noise-issue. The answer I found to be very likely is this one:
Background noise - speakers and headphones
Buzzing noise in Forte headphone only during 3D audio - [H]ard|Forum
Reducing Headphone Noise from the HyperMac Battery
http://forum.notebookreview.com/dell/165344-vostro-headphone-jack-noise-solution.html
My hard drive makes my headphones make a fuzzy noise [Archive] - AnandTech Forums
Harddisk causing speaker noise [Archive] - Antionline Forums - Maximum Security for a Connected World
What I know for sure is that the hard drive is causing this. I happened with my old hard drive, and is happening with my current.
What should I do guys -
Maybe they have North American stock of T3810s that they haven't sold? I'm sure what they do is for a reason. If they release a superior product here immediately then they will totally destroy any opportunity to sell their current products.
To other owners: what wifi card came with your notebooks? I see some Broadcom and some Atheros. What are the differences? Which one is better?
Thanks -
The marketing folks @ Acer obviously think there is not enough demand here in the NA for the 3820TG w/ 5650...
Yea, we all want it, but we're a notebook enthusiast forum... we probably represent barely 1% of 1% of Acer's total market share.
The answer is simple, if Acer had positive data showing they would make a profit selling the 3820TG here, they would.
I think the biggest reason we haven't seen the 3820TG w/ 5650 here is the fact that the general public still wants/needs an ODD. Hence why we see the 4820TG w/ 5650 here. -
So I'm guessing the only 4820TG model here in the US is the AS4820TG-5637 with the i3 processor and 6-cell battery? Give me an i5 with 9-cell and I'm buyin

May or may not be interesting...
Acer has a new AS3820TG-5452G50nsse on their Taiwan site.
Only noticed because I recently returned to the US after a year in Taipei.
Intel ® Core i5-450M processor
(3 MB L3 cache, 2.40 GHz with TurboBoost turbine speed up to 2.66 GHz)
Mobile Intel ® HM55 Express Chipset
Acer InviLink Nplify 802.11b/g/n
Independent Graphics: ATI HD 5650 1G DDR3 discrete graphics entities
System Memory: 1 * 2GB DDR3 1066 System Memory
Screen Size: 16:9 The 13.3 "LED backlit wide-screen (1366 x 768)
Storage: 500GB SATA hard drive
Weird... 2 GBs
I'd have friends mail one to me, except that computers
typically cost 30% extra or more in Taiwan plus $60 shipping. -
Still sure it's mediocre though. Anything's better than my Asus's 1080P screen - no amount of correction will get it to match my other screens and photos' actual colors. Good for software development and some gaming but that's it. -
if they DID have a 3820TG config, and this is just newer, i don't think it means much. we are seeing the new refreshed i5s across the globe. 430 -> 450.
another example of this is computeruniverse selling the 430 models, then telling bronsky they are out of stock on that model, and he was "forced"to purchase the 450 version.
-
I personally don't like the 9-cell; it sticks from the bottom and looks ugly. It's all a matter of preference. -
I had an issue today which i dont understand:
While using the laptop I notice that the top center plastic tab thats
holding the keyboard in place is not doing its job properly. So I push it in
a couple of times and press the keyboard down until it clicks back into place.
As soon as i did this the computer went into some sort of standby procedure, then shut down. So I immediately tried starting the pc again only to find that it was dead. Completely dead. No lights, no nothing.
I pondered on this problem abit and then suddenly 5 minutes later the pc
booted up by itself - I was away from the pc at the time, ripping my hair out - and has worked flawlessly since.
Anyone know what would cause this?
Is it a common issue? -
Previous experience with atheros is quite good. -
Has anyone confirmed that using throttlestop prevents the throttling of a the i3 cpus in the 3820tg? Or is this just really dangerous?
-
zucks that the american consumer just swallows whatever sh1t is shoved down their throats, and enjoy it.
acer needs to sell us the damn 3820tg's... -
-
On second thought I think your right Bronksy, looks as if this will do the job nicely! -

I'm also looking at this 3M product: Vikuiti? ARMR200 screen protector for Acer Aspire TimelineX 3820T -
-
They would see how successful a portable, yet capable, laptop could be. Take a look at how much attention Alienware is receiving for their 11". The 3820TG would be a more powerful alternative that is less expensive and has aesthetics that nearly anyone can live with.
On that note, I wonder what Asus' sales #s are for the UL80VT vs UL30VT. -

Bronsky we should move the backlit switch discussion to the backlit mod thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/acer/491169-acer-timelinex-3820tg-backlit-keyboard-mod.html
I've got some questions there in regards to space for the push switch. -

4. is there a way to improve the audio quality? vlc cant do it by using a ext usb soundcard will it help?
i am looking to buy a sleeve/kb protector/skin/cooler plz recommend -
You say that it started up again on it`s own and has been fine since, proof that there`s nothing wrong.
Don`t worry be happy. -

The only weird thing was that it was absolutely completely stone dead for 5 minutes. The power button did not respond, the charging light did not come on when i plugged in the power-supply. -
Coolers: NZXT Cryo S or CoolerMaster Notepal X2 (I'm using this one, quite good), or Notepal U2 (portable, plus it has adjustable fans, I've ordered it, my country facing supply issuses).
Notepal X2 keeps both cores under 81 C when playing GTA IV with ambient temps at 24C.
Sleeves: Zeroshock III, I believe You also see pics in Hendrickson's first, thread starter post.
I get like 4-5 hours of battery life with the theoratically less hungry 430M, 6 hours seems to be unreachable for me when browsing, maybe with WLAN off and office work it'd be possible. -
If the ODD is the only thing keeping consumers from buying small laptops, then who`s buying all those netbbooks without ODD? -
Thanks. -
so please answer all my queries in my previous post i really want this to last 2yrs if it suits me i am downgraing from 17 inch to 13.3
