I`ve done this with my computer, pressed a bunch keys simultaniously and forced the OS into somekind of selfprotect mode where it shuts down and does a complete diagnostic check on itself. After a few minutes it fires up again and is fine.

Your computer had a little nightmare and now it`s awake and fine again. :spinny:

    1. Depends, I think people have seen mainly Broadcoms.
    2. Realtek Audio HD, from Acer or there a people reporting better(=louder) sound quality from drivers downloaded from Realtek directly.
    3. Install the right drivers, your lan/wifi/audio isn't intel. LAN is Atheros.
    4. See 2.

There's recommendations for sleeve to pink Zeroshock III.

Thank you for the link! I am definitely ordering my new laptop later today! I agree, the 9-cell does not look at clean as the 6-cell, but if I am going to be away from an outlet for a long time I don't mind making the aesthetic sacrifice. The 6-cell will most definitely do for now, and if I realize I need more battery life, I can always purchase the 9-cell in the future. Thanks again for the link, I don't know how I missed that laptop when I was searching before.

Is the 6300 the one to order? BTW, may have found my speaker. It might take a couple of weeks to get it. So, I will probably do the Wifi, KB swtich and the Speaker all at the same time. Then, I'm done for awhile, until the I7 prices come down a bit after the new Arrandales are released in Q3.

Not for us, the 6200 has it has two antenna cables. The 6300 uses 3, which is fine if you already have it installed like the i7 Singapore spec. Other wise you could add another 3rd cable for the antenna.
P.S I ordered the little push switch and it should be here in a week or more. I will try and see if it will fit. I think it will work fine. Just

By the way my first 3820TG is up for sale on ebay if anyone is keen (Posting in Europe only sorry). Its also the worlds first backlit keyboard 3820TG :)

Well its raining atm, and you cant really see my mistake without sun. Ill do it when possible. Nevertheless, you can always take off the foil again, clean it with water and wait for it to dry, then reapply (at least with the ARMR200). Which is what Ill do, when I finally find it to be too annoying

At least the I7-620M, if the price comes down. If Acer begins to install the new I7-640M when they are released, I might consider going with one of them after the Bios is changed. For now, I'm fixing my speaker, putting in a new wifi and adding a switch to my Backlit KB.

Some of our models don't have a clockgen that will OC. His would not and he decided to order another and risk it. He got one that OC's. :D So he's selling his old one.

It already has a backlit keyboard installed and an Intel 6200 Wifi board.

    Hi Bronsky,

I am still waiting on my 3820tg. Computer Universe sent me an email about a week ago and stated that my package was not returned to them so it is possible it was shipped before the halt by DHL was in full effect.

My DHL updates show nothing once the package left the terminal July 10.

Did you receive a notification once it was ready for delivery in the US? I recall you said that there was no communication once it left Germany so I am wondering about the timing. It has been 16 days since it was shipped. I know that returned laptops are posted by DHL as being returned or delivered to CompUniverse and so far mine is not in that category.

Thanks for any insight you may have.

After it went to the hub in Germany, I heard nothing until I got notification that it was at the delivery terminal and ready for delivery. It took exactly 16 days if I recall and I shaved one off for delivery because I picked it up. I checked with my local post office and they had it so I picked it up the next morning. Sounds promising.

Anybody got a problem with the 3820TG not going into standby in Win7 64bit?
It kinda just hangs and then shuts off completely after 10 minutes.

Selling because I got a UTMS unit and overclockable one. Not sure I can ship to the US due to the lithium battery and strict import laws now in the US of A. Also the cost from Spain to the USA would be like 100 euros for me...

Was it just released? I'm downloading it now thanks for the link!

EDIT: Ok I'm kind of wrong
    http://www.aircargoworld.com/News/April-2010/New-lithium-battery-rule-will-hurt-air-cargo

The shipper simply has to comply with the packaging rules, and the aircraft just has to have the proper cargo container for transporting it.
But obviously laptops and batteries are still being imported by individuals so it's not always being enforced. And it obviously can only be enforced if the airline knows about it...

I'm unscrupulous enough to find someone unscrupulous enough to ship this damn laptop to me.

They did not seem intersted in that when I raised the issue. :( I would just look for another company who will ship via UPS of FedEx. It looks like Taiwan is the place to order from. You can get an international/US KB and they ship via UPS. You can have your order in days.

    Bronsky

@just-a-nick I'll take a look at them when I get home later.

Unfortunately it's $200 dollars more to order the i5-450 from taiwan. Also it would a hell of a lot harder to contact them and return it if there's anything wrong.
    I'll keep looking around.

And it comes with Traditional Chinese Home Premium, BTW.
You can type and read in English, but the menus and dialog boxes, Control Panels, etc are in Chinese.
So you need to upgrade to Win7 Pro or Ultimate for the multi-language OS feature.
At least that was the case adding the Chinese OS to my USA 1830t.

Also, the keyboard has Chinese alongside the Roman characters.

    I'm looking at the 3820tg again and just to confirm;
-is the graphics card direct x 11 compliant?
-is the battery life around 10 hours for office use and around 5 hours for gaming?
-does it weigh about 1.7kg or 2.2kg?

    2. Maybe with the 9cell, but closer to 6 hrs surfing, and 2-3 hrs gaming with 6cell
    3. 1.8 kg with 6cell.

hmm and im guessing its easier to obtain a 9 cell battery in the uk as they do sell it over here compared to the n82 where its gonna be harder to locate batteries etc.

Also is the 3810 battery the same size as the 3820 battery? Could I just buy a 3810 battery and will it work in the laptop?

I'm having a similar issue. My laptop left the terminal on the 13th and I've yet to get any updates on it. Anyway, I was just wondering, where is your laptop being shipped to? Mine's going to NYC. I do hope I'm going to receive mine tomorrow.

Looking at my just arrived SSD, Flash Drive, External ODD, and new mouse is not helping when I have no new laptop.... Funny thing is, I've ordered all of this last Friday.

My camera can't get the detail on the stickers. Here it is:

On the half card itself -

    FCC ID BDS BRCM1045
    MAC 78E4035B I(could be a 1)BC
    T77H10300LF E20006494103L3

    On the top sticker -

    Wireless Lan 5403346251020A71C D(could be O)2000

    Bronsky

@MNX1024 & hox - waiting for your acer is really difficult when there is no clue where it is. It must be even worse with this Li battery issue. Best of luck to both. Looking forward to hearing that you got yours.

I'm having an issue with the sound. While having the volume at 1 or louder I hear some other kind of noise, sounds like the wind or the hard drive. When I go down to 0 I don't hear anything, just silence.

I have installed the latest drivers but my problem is still there. I'm almost certain that this noise somehow comes from the hard drive because the noise is louder while the hard drive is working a lot; at boot-ups, starting applications etc. I also hear this sound while playing music, but only a little bit and while having low volume. I have only yet heard this with headset, and can't really tell if it's the same thing with the speakers.

I tried if I got the same issue in Ubuntu, but I could not get the sound working at all...

the sticker is from the wlan card.

Have you got also a sticker from the bluetooth modul?
In the first line of my sticker is printed BCM92046 and this is the product code for an 2.1+EDR BT modul.

I will write Acer a mail tomorrow.

Hey when I ordered I didn't get an email confirmation either, just go to the site and up to the top there should be some customer service link in blue (after it's translated). Then there should be an option that translates to Search order and FAQ. In there you can view your order status and tracking number :)

Ok after stress testing using P95 torture test for about 2 hours in a room with ambient temperature about 20c I get these results.

The fan kicks in once it hits about 72-74c and then both cores hover at about 70c for the rest of the time. This is with maximum load on the CPU though, with gaming does that mean the CPU won't be pushed as much?

@ Riddhy916. Download the latest setfsb shareware and then select the G73jh clockgen and hit get fsb. If you get an error you can't overclock. If it says 133Mhz FSB you can overclock.
