My wear went up to 14% after 4 days. After doing a calibration according to this guide it went down to 11%, now it's at 9%. So it keeps going down now, really weird.

But as Arsad mentions, if you start charging again from 40%-60&-80% instead of using it all the way down, the battery loses it's mind.

I'm doing a test now, to see if the wear level will go up again once more, after the positive results I got from calibration

Guys, I need a little help. I'm thinking about buying extra 4GB ram, just have to make sure that it's compatible, and that I won't lose warranty?

    I may buy this:
    Kingston ValueRAM - 4 GB - SO DIMM 204-pin - DDR3 - 1333 MHz ( PC3-10600 )

It's the same speed as the Samsung in my 3830T, so will it run in Dual mode?
And how easy is it to install RAM in the new timelines?

did you open the case already, because i think the original 4GB come in 2x2GB...

    I'm afraid you'll need to buy 4*2GB...

That said, i ordered 4*2GB Kingston DDR3 for this computer to replace the original 4GB so if you can wait aproximatly one week i will be able to answer your question...

New 14" Edge E425s looks like an interesting option to the Acer. A8 APU with dedicated AMD GPU in cross-fire. Should be a decent gaming machine and base price is $549. So, the price with the A8 and dedicated card should be near the list price of the 4820TG (if it was sold in the US  ). Should have some impressive gaming performance.

Ok so what I said in an earlier post may be true. Wear level went up again, after going down 4% since calibration. I started charging from 40%, instead running the battery all the way down.

i just picked up this lappy...so to prevent battery wear, we should let the battery drain all the way down, and charge it back up?
instead of charging it whenever we need to?
what if we leave the ac outlet plugged in all the time?
    this sounds plain stupid

    Sanyo the best.

The Panasonic (some are lucky) are really weird. Wear will rise quickly, and maybe continue until 40% (haven't seen higher reported), and some will go up and down every day :S

Yea I know :( But keep checking your wear level. Some Panasonic batteries show 0% (lucky people).

    Try this calibration

Right now mine is at 11%. It was at 14% before doing calibration.

It's different from the calibration method I normally used. I didn't let it hibernate for 2-3 hours before plugging it in again.

I'm planning to buy the 3830tg today or tomorrow from amazon.

do the new ones all use panasonic battery ?

    also-
Is there a lot of chassis flex ?
From what I can see, all the silver areas around the kb are painted plastic ?
and the blue areas are just thin aluminum glued to the plastic?

How much flex is on the lid when you close the laptop and press on the lid?
Is the lid also aluminum covered ?

Panasonic is the "bad" battery right?

Mine has been showing at 2% over the last couple weeks.

the center of the keyboard has quite a bit of flex, the rest of it is decent.

i launched sc2 created a game and idled. the cpu got to 81C but no throttle was kicking in (this is after 20mins)

so i blocked the vent with a box temps go to 90 and throttling kicked in and my fps dropped from 80 to 50. after removing the box and letting it vent the temp dropped back to 82 but the throttle never went off.

i guess i can get away without using throttle stop since my 2310m dont turbo like 2410m.

gonna unplug the power cable and let it loop on a movie and see the battery is.

Could you tell us how you charge/discharge? Do you use it all the way down, then charge full again?

i'm running prime95 right now, been about 5 min. max of 68 degrees no throttling to be seen. but the gpu temp has spiked to 54...isn't prime95 only stressing the cpu? and because of the hsf/cooling design it's indirectly heating up the gpu aswell?

Now my wear level is at 13%....great.

Calibration made it go down from 14% to 9%, but after charging two times it's already at 13%.

If people with Panasonic batteries could post their charging patterns, we may be able solve this (not entirely, because the batteries themselves are crap)

Does anyone have a sample webcam video?

i would like to see the video quality, and if you don't mind, upload to youtube.

also, is there a program that can manually control the fan speed so that you can set it on max speed during gaming ?

Well, I have to use the battery you know? It's a portable machine, not meant to be used on AC all the time

Even going through a complete cycle every day, shouldn't make the wear level go up to 13% in 6 days. My older 1810tz is at 24% wear after 1.5 years of use!

    so almost 30 mins running prime95, and a max temp of 78. and zero throttling..is it because it's a i3 2310 vs the i5 2410?
cuz i'm not experiencing anything bad so far.
i'm installing heroes of newerth, gonna see if that stressed it

As you can see in my sig, i have the panasonic battery and my wear used to be 4% out of box, then used down to 60% and I recharged it to 100% next day I saw it sitting at 0% till this day. Li-ion batteries don't need calibration and when you do calibration, all it does to the battery is wear it out more quickly. I use my 3830 on battery like 3 hours a day and my battery is behaving like it should. Don't worry to much about the battery because the wear level will balance itself after "normal" usage is reached like in my case.

    Hope I helped.

your i3 doesn't have an nvidia card, that's why it doesn't get hot enough to throttle.

in the i5 version, the hot nvidia card's heatpipe runs over the cpu, so it adds heat to the cpu, and makes it throttle.

it's a stupid design. The gt540 should have its own copper pipe to the fan, not travel over the cpu.

if you want to heavy stress your cpu use linx.

also our temps (2310m) will be lower than the 2410m due to the lower stock clock and the fact that we dont have turbo. i think its very reasonable to believe we wont experience throttling with any program/game when the ambient temp isnt super high.

You can either make your own recovery disks (you'll need an external DVD drive with the 3830 model) or download them legitimately from the source listed in this thread: Free Legal Windows 7 downloads

Has anyone else applied Arctic silver to the gpu/cpu ?
One person said it lowered by 12C. Another person said it didn't do anything.

anyone else get any tangible improvements?

Can anyone play GTA IV without stutter? GTA4 is more cpu intensive.

I'm almost ready to buy the 3830 i5+gt540.... as it would cost me only $400-410 after discounts and promo.

and again I ask...... Has anyone tried to put double sided thermal/frag tape on the areas marked in yellow (in picture below) to fix keyboard flex in middle ?
