I bought my nephew this laptop over a year ago, he has not been able to use it for the past 4 months because the screen went black, it appears (sounds like its running) but no display. I also can't seem to turn it off without removing the battery. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

To turn it off, hold the power button down until it shuts off. Try hooking it to an external screen to see it shows up that way.

I have just had the same problem, but I just held the power button down until it turned off. I then restarted and it was OK...
