I just bought this about two weeks ago and I am only reviewing it now because I had plenty of time to play with it so that the "wow" effect can ware off.
Specs:
1.6 Dothan CPU with 2mb L2 Cache
15,4' WXGA Screen
Ati Radeon 9700 mobility with 64 mb
60GB HDD Hitacki travelstar 80GN with 4200rpm and 8MB cache
DVD+/-RW lite-on slimtype SOSW-852s(8x/4x/24x) with DVD-duallayer suport
512MB DDR 333mhz
WLAN
Screen:
Is very bright and easy to read. Also duiring gaming I havn't managed to see any ghosting so it works just fine. I am very pleased with it and can say that is one of the best laptop screens I have ever seen. Also the wide aspect is superb. Many games suport it such as HL2.
Performance:
Managed to get around 2.8k in 3Dmark03 and 600 in 05(this is because of the low memory-only 64 mb) and 11k in 3dmark2001. I play HL2 on it with 1280x800 and most f the setings on high and I get on averege around 45-55 fps.
DVD-Burner:
One of the best notebook wroters out there. It doesn't ship with DVD-DL suport but after a copule of searches I found a site that hase firmwares for this burner and managed to update it and it write like this: 8x/4x DVD+R/RW 4X/2X DVD-R/RW 24X/24X CD-R/RW 2.4X DVD+R9.
Look&Feel:
For my taste the laptop looks cool, has a nice colour and the quality is good. Only "-" is that it may squeec form time to time if you press a little harder on somme regions.
Baterry:
It gives me about 5 hours in on max batery setings and just using it in plain office aplication. It can play a movie for about 4 hours give or take and play hardcore games for abou 2 hours and 20-30 min.
Heat:
If you us it just to surf the web or watch a movie the laptop keeps cool but if you play games it does get a bit hot underneath and in the upright corner where the CPU is but nothing to anoy you.I think the heat is normal for a laptop. THe fan hase 2 levels of rotation and kicks in only when it hase to.
Conclusion:
This is my very first laptop but I have worked with others before and I can say that is hase a very good build quality good performance both in office and games and the batery is on par with the rest of the sistem. I like the fact that Acer equipt it with this DVD burner because form my searches is one of the fastest out there, only the nec ND-6500 faster but only when using DVD-R media.

Thanks for the edit. I don't know exactly how to make pictures show up in a post. Also it's a travel mate 4002 not an aspire 4002.

hey oGu, thanks a lot for this review of the Aspire 4002...I edited your post a little here so that the images show up as links to click and view as they are rather large to download all at one time!
