Could anyone recommend an Acer TravelMate 8210-6597 for a university student? If not, why so?

I’ve also read certain reviews mentioning that this system has poor heat dissipation. Is that true?

    Thank you!

What are your going to do with it? Perhaps you should consider the FAQ and post there.

Hey... yeah, in addition to doing my research and word-processing, I would also like to game occasionally. Initially, I was looking at two different 17-inch models, the hp dv9000t and the Alienware m5750. Due to bulk and other factors and the valuable :) insight of the of the forum users, I decided that it wud me for my best interest to go for a 15.4-inch model. I have finally come up with three models: the Acer TravelMate 8210-6597, the hp nc8430, and the Toshiba satellite pro A100 (UK Model). But the Acer seems to be the top performer out of the three. But then I read reviews stating that its build quality was poor and that it had a heat issue.... so I just wanted to clarify these claims and wanted to know whether it would be appropriate for university and whether it would be worth the investment...

    Thank you!

My laptop is in the 8210 series it is a TM 8215 WLMi purchased from laptops direct.co.uk. In my opinion the build quality is excellent. The hinges and catches are sturdy, keyboard is very durable etc. It is not core duo it is a core duo 2, so heat dissipation not a problem as more efficient. No heat problems in normal applications, have never used it for gaming. But I expect this is the same. As long as you don't block the air vents, heating should not be a problem.
I use my laptop for study and i am generally pleased with it. I think maybe buyers should consider their preferences. I find it slighty heavy compared to my previous laptop, it's widescreen (some buyers may not like that), and the resolution is very high - check that you don't mind this.
I would generally recommend this laptop.
